New Srixon ZX7 MKII irons – 2022 Shriners Children's Open

Recommended Posts

I really hope Srixon offers the MMT 125tx shaft, but I worry they're a little behind the curve on this. I would 100% plays these irons this year if they offered it.

I know Taylormade and Cobra will be offering it.

You could have a local club builder order and put that together, couldn't you?

The ZX7 MKII just arrived from AUS. I have to admit the top down view of them is better than the old version of zx7. The sole is thick enough and does not represent a blade whatsoever. They are so clean and look so playable. Looking at another 4 inches of snow tonight so won't get to hit them for awhile. These are beautiful. Hands down going straight into the bag.

Happy to take any pictures if needed.

How stiff is the Mmt 125tx?

It feels about like an X100, but is probably stiffer. I soft stepped the MMT 125TX and wish led I did not.

From what TXG said the other day on a live, most OEM's announce date is January 9th or 10th (I can't remember exactly which one) and that Srixon will be the day after that (so January 10th or 11th).

I just played my ZX7 MKII Irons 4i-PW for the first time and had a solid grass range session with them!

They are great looking clubs! Way better in person then what you see online. Honestly, I am kind of unsure of I feel about them yet.

I got my mine from Golf box and instantly switched the shafts from the stock modus 120 Stiff (didn’t offer X-Stiff) to modus 115 X-Stiff and swing weighted to D4.

Side note…I had never hit these shafts previously but I have loved the feel of my modus 120 but just wanted something slightly stiffer then the 120, similar weight, lower launching, and hopefully offers better dispersion.

I am coming from playing PXG 0311T Gen 3 with X-Stiff Modus 120, which I LOVED, but I’m a club whore constantly searching for a more forgiving, and softer better feeling set of irons.

I have only hit the OG zx7 once, and was indoors so can’t compare to that, but here are my thoughts how they compare to my 0311T.

Topline looks thinner and more blade like on the PXG due to how they bevel the topline, which I loved how’re thin l they looked but still knew they were super forgiving.  I thought the ZX7 MKII topline would bug me since, but I didn’t mind them.

Besides the topline, I definitely like the looks of the zx7 mkii more than the 0311T Gen 3

Sole is about the same or slightly smaller on the Zx7 compared to the 0311T.

FEEL. This is where I am not sure if I’m in love yet. They are definitely Clickier and louder than the 0311T, but still felt really good.

I know feel is subjective, but to me when a club sounds clickier, I subconsciously think they feel harder and not as good, which throws me for a loop on these clubs, because they sound like they shouldn’t feel good, but they feel quite opposite of how they sound.

The feel and sound could also be due to modus 115 XStiff Shafts I put in since they are a more stout shaft compared to the XStiff Modus 120 in my pxg.

Forgiveness: The zx7 mkii are definitely forgiving, but you definitely know when you don’t hit the center, I feel like you can get away with slight mishits with the 0311T and still feels like you hit the center.

I think forgiveness wise the 2 clubs are about equal 6i and up. 4i and 5i I think the 0311T offer more forgiveness.

Distance: I live in Utah at 4500 ft above sea level and played the zx7 mkii in Hawaii at sea level so I can’t give accurate comparisons on distances. From my past experience with my PXG at sea level they seemed very similar in distances.

Turf interaction: I am more of a sweeper and don’t take much of a divot. Honestly the V sole didn’t feel crazy different to me than the traditional soles on my pxgs.

My new ZX& MKIIs are smooth as silk. LESS clicky than my PXG Gen5 0311Ts with Modus 120. I think you maybe should have hit the 120s before switching the shafts to 115Xs, then you'd know for sure. You still have the 120 shafts? Put it back in the 7I and try it.

I’m 3 rounds in with my new MKII ZX5 irons are they are incredible. I bent the lofts weak to reduce offset and can honestly say they are the best looking irons I’ve had in a long long time. Forgiving, good looking and workable. I’m a big fan of Srixon. The new line is an upgrade from the previous.

Yeah I have X Stiff 120s in my pxgs so I’m going to pull one and try it out!

Is the custom shaft catalog that is being utllized for the US release of the MKII series, the same as the June 2022 catalog that I found on Srixon Europe's website?  For anyone in the know?  Curious what the final iron shaft options are going to be.

I too want to know if the recoil darts will be available

Anyone have any info on when the MKII irons will show up on Srixon's site? They launched a site redesign yesterday and it has the woods but not the new irons.
