New Srixon ZX7 MKII irons – 2022 Shriners Children's Open

Recommended Posts

Had a chance to hit the ZX7 mkII 7-iron today in my local golf shop. It was fairly informal as I just wanted to try a few shafts to confirm my planned order. To my eye (and I didn’t have a previous Gen to compare to) the shape looked ever so slightly more compact with a splash less offset. I know the head specs haven’t changed almost at all, but visually they looked better from the top. Much preferred looking down on the new. They are still players irons but definitely softer and more forgiving around the face than my current T100s. I’m fully prepared to order the new set on launch day, only debate is if I will add a ZX5 or utility 4-iron to pair with the 5-pw.

The offset is less even though not by much. Probably noticed that.

Wait, where do you guys live?

Here in Canada Srixon doesn’t have the ZX7 MKII up on their website (or the ‘21 ZX7 for that matter), and last time I checked the U.S. site they didn’t have them up either.

Been waiting for these to be released so i can hit them in my fitting. However 2 of my local retailers have recently said they have no idea when they’ll get fitting heads but have been taking pre orders for over a month now. Seems kinda odd. Is this normal for a srixon release?

I’ve had my fitting heads for about 2 weeks. The entire lineup is very good. I like the look of ZX4, ZX5 and ZX7 and all give very good numbers on our GC Quad.

Hey sorry when is official launch date of these new irons.  They look beautiful.  Thanks.

Hopefully someone on here has more concrete information but I was told at my local golf shop they believe the embargo is lifted on either 1/10 or 1/11 - not sure what that means for sales though.

Can you compare numbers to mki? Any significant differences?

Does everyone know what shaft fits them best?  Seeing so many order them already.

Just wondering because as I noted in my 3.5 hour fitting the testing between my current ZX7 and the MKII the only differences we found was in changing shafts.

Once we found something "better" in shaft setup we flipped it into the other head and nothing was gained or lost between the two.

We found we could get better distance then my current setup but with less accuracy...and vice versa of course.

If come back on here and say they are getting crazy gains going from ZX7 to MKII then it would be all based on shaft and you were in the wrong shaft to start with.

When you get into players irons you shouldn't really see big distance gains. Just looking for maybe noticable forgiveness improvements and tighter dispersion. I've had the ZX7s for 2 years and if I ordered I would order with the same shafts I got fitted for 2 years ago. They've worked very well for me for the most part. Admittedly I'd be ordering just because I've had the same irons for 2 years and would hope for slight forgiveness improvement but not sure I'm going to order because I do really love my ZX7s still.

I’m not looking for distance gains. Some of the preliminary reviews I have seen / read up on state that these launch a touch higher and spin more than the previous version.

I actually had my previous ZX7 irons bent a degree weak in the 4-9 but left the pitching wedge as is at 46. At standard loft, I found myself flying too many greens, especially when pulled a touch.

I never should have let those go but had the shiny new 223’s delivered and I made the decision to sell the ZX7. If the top line is thinned out in these like I hear it is, they are going to be perfect to my eye.

I posted about my testing earlier in thread.  I would say the new MKII has just a slight/smidge more forgivness.  I also found it a bit more (not a lot) effort to work the ball.  I figure after some range time it will feel like "home"

Both are GREAT and I will keep my ZX7's just because and I normally never do that as I will be tempted to go back HAHAHA.

What did you not like about the 223 Pros?  I just switched over to those and will be here this week.

*I was looking for some gains distance but keep accuracy based on some issues I had last year and the 223's with a differnt shaft then current I was able to see some good gains.

** your club listing we are almost the same now. that I got the 223s coming  I have the TSi3 driver though.  Wedges I flip between SM8's and RTX and lately been sticking more to RTX.

My new ZX& MKIIs are smooth as silk. LESS clicky than my PXG Gen5 0311Ts with Modus 120. I think you maybe should have hit the 120s before switching the shafts to 115Xs, then you'd know for sure. You still have the 120 shafts? Put it back in the 7I and try it.

This has me interested. I’ve been considering replacing my Gen 5 Ts. My main gripe is that I’m fairly shallow (about -4.5 with 7 iron) and when I play in firm conditions I find the soles a bit difficult to get into the ground. I played the last generation of ZX7s and found those to be similar in turf interaction. I’ve never found the Gen 5s clicky at all, so I’m interested in what others have found in comparing these two. I would REALLY like to find a set that I actually play for multiple years!

Interesting. Ok cool, thanks.

Just called my local fitter today to see when they’re expecting the ZX7 MKII’s in and they said by mid-February.

Looks like Srixon must be dealing with some supply issues if they can’t even get the heads out to fitters.
