Tour New Srixon ZX7 MKII irons – 2022 Shriners Children's Open

I spotted the current ZX7's heavily discounted in my local store last weekend and suspected something was coming....these look great and I can't wait to try them

makes sense... helps a high toe shot more. also hearing that these clubs sweet spot is nearer to center than the previous version, with the COG moving upwards slightly. 

 

likely resulting in slightly lower launch and slightly more spin.

also heard the blade length is FRACTIONALLY smaller.

easier to fade due to weight changes.

 

I have not been this excited about a club since the MP18 SC.

 

There is very limited one piece players cavity back irons with modern lofts.

even less in LH.

 

Mizuno forged looks like a shovel. But the 921 tours were okay.

Titleist CB is 12 yards shorter with same lofts (new release in aug 2023)

wilson staff is getting better but thick topline and ugly cavity

refuse to buy taylormade mc because customer service experiences.

nothing from ping, callaway, cobra is a forged one piece CB.

off brands have cool stuff but difficult to fit.

 

I speculate that these irons are going to be difficult to beat. Anxiously looking forward to the release. hurry up and take my money

 

A lot of bad takes and speculation on this site but I will say that all of the changes you've mentioned make sense as small tweaks. TXG claims the ZX7 was slightly prone to the draw which I have to agree with. Shaft droop (lol) is something that I feel will start to get looked at by more brands as it is very important in dynamic lie and hard to test robotically. These look wonderful and are easy to get offset reduced on with weakened lofts.

First impression based off initial pics was lukewarm, however the pics of the new ZX7 mkII in color and in bags makes me so excited to give them a try. And by try I mean order blind before hitting. Will be fun to see how they hold up vs my T100s/200 set! Will probably go 4-pw and skip the blended set.

Everyone is saying less offset. If I were to guess, stock on these is a 32 degree 7 iron. But tour pros have them bent weak to traditional lofts…. so less offset.

Any buzz on a new gen Z-Forged release? These would be a nice addition for the long irons in my bag. Loved the OG 7's and nothing compared in feel "for me".

Those are so good looking IMO. I'd want them just to never hit them.

I think they are slated for an April 2023 release.

Wow these look tight. I’m guessing the sweet spot is about the size of a dime and tucked a tad close hosel side. Sweet.

The sweet spot of the previous iteration was fractionally towards the toe. I expect the same from this iron.

If these are bent weak as mentioned then the front sole bevel looks ok.  I do not care for that design, but being steep with my swing it should not be an issue.

These have my interest. Anytime I get fit for irons it’s these t100 or pxg p irons. My ballspeeds are getting back up with my t100 but spin ks getting too high so zx7s should help me out.

These look better than the original ZX7 just because of the lack of offset in my opinion but the big caveat everyone seems to notice is are these bent weak to take offset away.

wow, it sounds like they might have addressed my issues with them.  I really wanted the zx7 to work for me a few years ago.  I liked the feel, the look was okay, the forgiveness was great, and the soles were intriguing.  The issues were: 

- Too much offset (just the look bothers me)

- lots were too strong:  if we bent them 1* weak on the 9 iron (probably fine) and 2* weak on the 6-8 irons to get better gaps (too much bounce for firm conditions probably) stock 9 and 8 irons were gapping at about 13-15y where my current irons were roughly 12 each from 6-pw and very consistent distance wise.  

- they seemed to turn over too easy for me (just a bit, thought it was the offset perhaps) and if I got under the ball a bit the upper part of the sweet spot was a little dead or at least that was what my fitter/pro and I concluded on the shots that seem to come up a few yards short on occasion but seemed hit fine.

That's too bad. I will miss hitting those slinging draws. But I just find they hate to cut.

Could be lies, or you could just be like most and weaken them.

They do spin low because they’re a bit draw biased IMO, but the new ones are neutral in weight placement

For me the 785 was draw biased but the zx7 was neutral. The new ones look good

In NSW.  They thought about the end of October they would be released but I see on golf box it’s start of November so have to wait abit longer I’d say
