After Michael newtons review I’m less excited about the new lst. Perhaps the Aerojet may be the answer. Still want to try hybrids.

I also have the G400 Max with the Tour 65x.  Head to head the G430 is better for me.  Lower spin and more penetrating ball flight.  Might be the shaft (Kai'li) but prefer the G430 LST.  Won't be getting rid of my G400 though, one of my all time favourite drivers.

Concur.  Solid sound and feel.  I even like it slightly better than my one true love, the G400 Max.  The G425 was a wonderful performer, but as has been documented, sounded like Rosanne Barr singing the National Anthem @ the Padres game in in 1990. 

 

I actually think it's a shrewd marketing move by Ping.  "Let's release the G425 driver with hollow, metallic ring which most people hate, then we can give the G430 the voice of an angel and everyone will automatically think it's a better driver without any demonstrable performance improvements..."  Genius!

Tested out my G430 max head and Ventus Red TR 6x combo tonight. Thing is very solid feeling and sounding.  Ball feels like it explodes off the face.  Wasn’t swinging at break neck speed 112mph, head felt fast but not TSR fast. However I was center striping the fairway on the sim. Nice tight draws… Had a few terrible swings and result was incredible, spin was retained. Never spiked or dipped.  The spin numbers on all strikes ranged from 2100-2400. 
 

Testing is in the early stages but results are very promising. May have had lighting strike twice (G400 now G430). 
 

More to come in the next week or so and will test a TR blue I have had built up as well.

This sounds like a delicious combo. Haven't hit a ping driver since the isi, I was surprised how forgiving the g430 max is!

How does the forgiveness of the 430 LST compare? Feel like a huge step down, or comparable?

so far how likely do you think it will replace your tsr?

Great to hear!  I’ll be using my Ventus Red 6x (not TR) from my G425 to my G430 Max which I just pre-ordered. Can’t wait!

I was surprised as well. I hit one high toe and yet it went straight down the fairway with 2400 spin.  I didn’t intend to test the full forgiveness of the driver. But I have confidence in knowing if I don’t bring my best swing, the driver is playable and I can keep the ball on the planet.

The only issue I had was I snap hooked a few drives. That has nothing to do with the head.  Just me trying to learn the timing pattern of the TR red.  My current TSR is built almost as a scramble driver with the light and long BGT Brava. Will go back to the Tensei 1k black I was fit for originally and compare.  So far though, PING has the lead do to the consistency of spin all over the face and forgiveness on the worst strike I could put on it lol

As a Canadian the sticker shock of $829 hurts in nominal dollars, but on a currency exchange relative basis is inline with Stealth2+ driver being $629 USD.

199g head weight without adapter. Back weight marked 19g and measured at 19g. 180g head weight without back weight to confirm.

Perhaps the raw head weight was heavy so they had to dial back the back weight to hit 199g total. 


I believe it is customary that Japan models are lighter and shafts are less stiff as that is what they fine to work best in that market.

I pre-ordered mine with the hzrdus red and should have it within 2 weeks. I’ll update when I get it. 
 

“Hexcel Hextow” on shaft = real and not made for?
