I'm curious how the forgiveness of the G430 line compares to my G400 max?  Thinking about ordering a G430 LST but wondered how the MOI of the new Max and LST compare to the numbers on the 400 max?

I would ASSUME that the newer drivers are more forgiving than the 400.  Thats essentially the only thing they can continuously update/improve.

TBD - G430 Max 15* - 818 H2 19*- Sub 70 Pro 23* - i525 6-U - SM9 54* / 58* / 62*  - F22

After Michael newtons review I’m less excited about the new lst. Perhaps the Aerojet may be the answer. Still want to try hybrids.

Considering what a fine ball striker he is that surprised me. Think he said he’d go for the Max and not the LST which means a lot of us should do likewise, or at least try both first…

shafts are tricky and typically require a fair amount of testing to dial in, but at that speed you *should* be firmly in the stiff shaft category. I would suggest at least trying something stiffer as it could unlock some additional gains.

I went back and tested the LST and Max again and like you said I tried the stiff shaft. It was significantly better for me vs the regular shaft. I hit the Max much better than the LST today. This Golf Town location still only had a 9 LST and 10.5 Max. I'd like to try a 10.5 LST and 9 Max before I order so going to do a fitting next week with the Ping rep. Really enjoyed hitting both drivers though. I think the 430 will be really popular this season.

Took my new G430 MAX out to the local trackman Range to dial it in, the ball speed consistency across the face - especially heel strikes - blew my mind.

Once i had it dialed i hit 20 drives - removed 3 outliers that were poor swings. 17 shots struck all over the face - min ball speed 151.3 max 157.4. SS 105-108mph.

I'm coming from g400 (std) and i would get 10+mph variation across the face easily.

Contacted ping customer service and they said it's the real deal with hexcel hextow.

Let us know how it feels when you get yours!

Thanks for the info. I’ll let you know how I get along with the shaft. I’ve never gamed one before and plan to use my Ventus Red 6X (fitted) in the G430 but ordering the driver with the Smoke Red since it’s probably the closest in profile to my Ventus. Never know, it may kick my Ventus to the bench.

How does the forgiveness of the 430 LST compare? Feel like a huge step down, or comparable?

I have to say I haven't noticed any drop off in performance.  My strikes live between the centre and toe side and I have the LST weight in the middle.  I find it plenty forgiving, and haven't noticed shots that can spin up when not struck well with the G400 e.g lower on the face.  Have been suprised where some shots have ended up after less than stellar swings.  Scientifically the G400 is likely more forgiving due to its design, but not noticeable enough for me to say "it's way better."

The fairway woods and hybrids look really impressive in the TXG and 2nd Swing reviews. The G430 Max 3 wood, in particular, seems just remarkably consistent. Sophie Walker also raved about it at Golfalot. Here's her written review.

I’m hoping 3rd party vendors will start selling rear tungsten weights for G430 line soon. Where is a good place to get  authentic Ping factory weights?  Ping doesn’t sell directly to consumers correct?

Unlike my current G425 which I hotmelted (sound+weight) i will use weights for the G430..

The G410 weights work just fine and are lower profile for those that don’t hover and drag it away low. Catches on the turf less for me.

Only downside is they only fit in the center setting.

Also G430 aftermarket weights are available:

I gotta be honest - I was all set to replace my SIM2 Max Driver with the G430 and the SIM Ti Fairway wood with the LST later this summer…then I saw the Canadian retail price for a non premium shaft driver with the Max head - $810 for the driver and $520 for the fairway.  I have never complained about retail price - up until now.

Throw a premium shaft in there and we’re over $1k for a driver…yikes!

The weights are already on EBay. I’ve always had good luck with the EBay sellers. As a matter of fact, their Scotty weights have always been dead on for me where Scotty OEM weights have always been a little light of the stated weight.

It's getting crazy, and not just Ping the TM Stealth 2, and Callaway Paradym drivers are $50 more than the G430.

Have you seen this Kevin fellow on 2nd Swing recently? He is not a young buck but absolutely nukes it. He is the new TXG Matty-boy as far as I'm concerned.

He is a good player.  Won the Pennsylvania Open in 2018.  Used to work at the 2nd Swing in Wilmington DE.  They had the big check he got when he won on display.
