Tour Ping G430 LST and Max drivers, G430 Max fairway wood & G430 hybrid – 2022 Shriners Children's Open

I think this driver will be a beast for Matty once they get a shaft in it that he is used to.  He never swings his best with a stock option.  Excited to see how things proceed for him.  I am anxiously awaiting my Ventus Red TR 6x to put into my G430 Max head! Tomorrow is hopefully the day!

Regarding aftermarket shafts for recent Ping drivers. How would the club fitter compensate that the driver head weights were designed for counter balanced shafts if I for instance would put in a Ventus red with the same length of the original Ping shaft? Or am I overthinking here?

Club fitters have way more options for weights to put into the heads then we have access to.  They can add or subtract weight to get to a desired swing weight or feel you are looking for.   In prior additions of Ping releases it appears that tour pros were gravitating towards CB shafts.  With this release that doesn't appear to be the case based on the WITBs to date.  Again, its entirely based on your feel/preferences.

Interesting to see Ping use so much CP2 Wrap in their fitting bags.

Looks like TGW has upsell shafts for only $214 for Ventus or Graphite Design. That’s tempting compared to $300+ plus for other OEMS.

My take home was his efficiency was really low, rarely above 1.4 and ballspeeds of 165 and 168 MPH not great at 119mph swing speed??

Both will be sub £500 drivers here (real world number, not MSRP) but with a £30 price differential between the Max and LST. Understandable given the carbon technology in the latter.

Costs in Canada for the driver is $850 LST, $810 for max and SFT.

$520 for the fairway woods. No LST listed

I’m just kidding of course you buy another to test. Or just pay for a fitting and test side by side. It would be cheaper than buying 430 then trying to resell. But this GolfWRX so buy all 2023 drivers

For me the G425 sounded just awful so if the G430 is much better (as reported) it’s on the list to try this year at some point..

From a few people I know that hit the stealth 2 felt it was hot but crooked.

Anyone else feeling a bit deflated from watching G430 reviews? I watched a ton, and the results seem uneventful (other than sound improvement for Max).

 

I badly need a new driver.

Conversely... I'm glad that Ping G430 = "old faithful/Reliable".  Compared to the "Wild Stallion" descriptions of TM Stealth2 and Cobra Aerojet... I'd take "old reliable" Ping G430 every time!

 

Surprisingly... i've not yet seen Rick Shiels' review of the  Ping G430... or have i missed it?
