2024 TP5 and TP5X balls…

I just received a couple of emails that shows they are doing the buy 3 get 1 on the new balls this year. Email shows you have to do some kind of personalization.

Tested TP5 out today up against CTX.  There is no doubt it's a great ball around the greens.  Feels v nice off the putter and checks up really well green side.  Off the driver, it has a nice mid ball fight and comes off with a crack. I was expecting a mushier feel, but it seems they addressed this with the new ball.  It was routinely 4-5 yards behind CTX, so it's not the longest ball.   Because of this, it won't make the bag this year.   It's pretty decent in the wind and feels nice off the irons.  I think, if you have distance and are looking for some spin and control, then TP5 should be a contender.  *ball was fine after the round, no chaffing or scuffs

Did you compare the TP5x to the CTX by any chance?

I did.  This year has cemented my golf ball obsession bc I'm pretty sure I've put them all through their paces!  I've found CTX to be an all around damn good ball. TP5X is just as good and maybe a touch longer but it did not perform as well in the wind.  Especially off the irons.  It would have made the bag, if not for this one thing.  BX on the other hand crushes in the wind.

Good to know! CTX and TP5x are the two balls on my radar. Appreciate your insights on your experience!

Driver distance on course results from top to bottom.  CT and TP5X are close with the nod going to CT.  The new BX is not an overly long ball.  Very strong off the irons and around the greens this year. It's a wind cheater though, so maybe distance would average out over a season.

The 2019 TP5x wasn't everyone's cup of tea but it was my favorite ball of all time. Im hoping this years ball can capture a little bit of that magic.

The 2019 TP5x was a true unicorn in the way it performed for me. The new ball isn't quite to that level of low spin but it's still been a good ball in my testing. This year has a good bit more spin in and around the greens, which I found to be helpful on the dormant grass this time of year. I thought it was just as long and felt like I was maybe a little longer with some of my longer irons, but I did notice a bit more spin on full shots under 175 yards. Overall, it's very good and will probably make the bag this year since I've run out of my 2019 stash.

2019 TP5x is the closest thing to the left dash, IMO.  '24 TP5x spins a touch more than the '19 and feels just a smidge softer is the best way I can explain it.  It's phenomenal in terms of straight up performance.  I reached out to TM about the off centered core issue and they offered to send me a replacement no charge.  I did a lot thinking and declined their generous offer because honestly, the numbers and performance out on the course were impressive.

Just picked up a 3 pack of the TP5x and will head out later today to give them a try against the Callaway chrome tour.

Not ideal conditions here (FNQ Australia) at the moment though as it’s our wet season but looking forward to comparing them.

Back from a quick 9 holes. I played every hole with the TP5x and Chrome Tour as the course was quiet but pretty wet.

Off the tee with driver, distance was similar but if any ball was longer (only by 2-3 yards) it was always the TP5x.

I also found the TP5x straighter.

Iron approaches into greens and Par 3’s,  I was surprised that the TP5x was noticeably longer, probably half a club. I say this was surprising as I have never noticed massive differences when previously testing balls before.

I did prefer the Chrome Tour for putting but I could certainly get used to putting with the TP5x.

I will be purchasing a dozen TP5x’s and will look forward to testing in drier conditions.

In drier conditions, I imagine CT would catch up to TP5X in distance.(off the tee)

Tp5X flew higher than all the other premium urethane offerings for me this year.

I did play the TP5X today. 44° and misty rain and fog.  Not much wind but the air was really heavy.  Hard to tell a lot from today.   The ball felt good.  Wasn’t a rock when putting and came off the irons and driver nicely.  Had plenty of spin.   Can’t wait to try it on a 70° day in shorts and short sleeves.

Got a flyer in the mail from DSG/Golf Galaxy that I could stop in and return the flyer for a free 4-pack of the new balls. Opted for the 5x. 2 balls are the regular and 2 are the Pix. I’ll always take free golf balls, even if I’m not going to play the Pix.

After listening to the podcast about the 24 TP5x where the TM rep said there weren’t different one-off balls for tour players, I looked at the USGA conforming list and noticed a version with just slightly different markings. Looks like that’s the one Rory has been playing.

Having worked in the Sporting Goods Consumer Goods Industry for different sports, I have a point of view.  I wish they would just be straight forward with us - but their view is that for the majority of consumers that would only "muddy the waters and create confusion".   That said, although we are in the extreme minority of consumers/"gear heads", we are the most engaged and just the straight up truth ("Hey, there is a special version we have made for Rory that isn't available") only creates more loyalty.

Think we may get our chance here in TN tomorrow!  If you don't mind, what is your driver swing speed.  I am around 105-108 and was a TP5 player all of last year.  I have been testing both of the new Taylor Made balls and the TP5X has captured my attention with testing on our GC3.  Trying to get out today to get some "outside results".

Played today in 43 degree weather and decided to play the TP5 as it’s softer and I thought the cold would be a good test.  Man is this thing soft.. way too soft for my game.  First hole I hit a good drive, led my approach a bit short into the wind, chipped up and it grabbed and stopped.. I was expecting a bit of release given the conditions.  I wasn’t striking it well given the conditions, but I’m even more happy I went with the TP5X.  Suits my game perfect

Anyone got shipping from Taylormade yet? I’ve got a fedex notification from iplastics group from Liberty SC. Seems too light to be 4 dozen balls but talylormade had a plant there and I can’t think of what else it would be.

Edit: it definitely is them. It references my order number.  Ordered 26 Feb. Should be here Thurs.
