The more info that comes out about this shaft has it looking not to be a competitor to a ventus black or other stiff low launching shafts.

it appears there is more feel Butt/Mid/Tip sections.  If you have a fast swing and hard transition it may remove this from your matrix, just as you might struggle with other less firm handle shafts.

Seems like actually the opposite. The stiffer handle would hold up better for that player. Or arguably a great fit for a fairway shaft if nothing else. The D+/Ltd is in the goat conversation….obviously the big name kept it going for a while along with BK, Finau, Morikawa, etc……but there’s a reason why it has stayed in their lineup for so long.

Cam Champ, Gary Woodland have it going that I know off top my head, and they would certainly fall in that fast and aggressive category.

I like the new matte finish…..but same time, the diamana pvd finish is so good, would be good either way.

It's not, IMO.  Ventus Black is very stiff in the tip and handle while being a bit softer in the mid.  Typical whiteboard shafts have stiff tip and mid while having a softer handle.  Whiteboard profiles will typically feel smoother compared to the Ventus Black because of the different materials used plus the softer handle, IMO.

How different is this shaft to the D+LTD and D Limited? Just by looking at the materials used, it doesn't seem all that different.

From their original (edited) marketing and a couple videos it appears this is a direct descendant from that line. Just compare their stiffness charts to get an idea

Anyone here give this shaft a go yet? Interesting to see it in Woodland's bag. Doesn't seem like a "white" profile guy.

I would think Woodland would be a good fit for WB given he pulls hard from the top. The stable butt and mid should serve him well while the tip gives enough feel and launch.

Whiteboards aren't typically firm/stable in the handle section. White is usually a softer handle with a stiff mid. WB seems to follow the newer "black" profile which I think of as a white board with a stiffer handle and tip, or firm the whole way down. Should be a good competitor to Ventus Black and Hzrdus Black. Woodland playing it is interesting because I don't think he has ever played a white profile before. If you look back he used to have a Diamana S+ Blueboard in driver. Then Aldila RIP, Accra RPG, Ventus TR Black/Blue. None of those have a soft handle profile.

Mitsu did an interview I think earlier this week.  I  they said this shaft was softer in the handle, getting stiffer down through the mid and then getting a little more active again in the tip.  The activity in the tip was to increase ball speed.  They said they could do it due to improved material stability and the heads have gotten so stable.

that being said, woodland has a unique action and almost float loads it.

Not sure if this vid was shared yet. They didn’t really provide numbers just feedback of feel and such. Which is subjective to each player of course

To me it’s more ventus black profile than whiteboard. The Kai’li, 1k pro white, d+ limited, d limited and PD all have medium to medium + handle sections compared to WB or AV white having a firm handle. They said it was softer in the handle but compared to which shaft is the question. It’s based off more the d+/d limited but at the same time it’s not. I think it’ll be a great shaft but it’s doesn’t entice me to grab one over my Kai’li

Doesn’t the Ventus blue TR have some handle flex a bit ??

TR Blue has the softest handle in the Ventus TR line, but still pretty stiff compared to most. The spread tow fabric in the Ventus TR was designed to stabilize the handle section of the shaft.

How is this WB shaft different than the Diamana WS (released in Japan only I believe and had a similar ion finish to the 5th gen line). Seems to be very similar and as dumb as this sounds the black matte finish doesn’t appeal to me. Prefer gloss.

Really wish they went with the OG sliver IP finish.

Agree; reminds me way too much of the D+ 62/72/82 they put out for Titleist about 10 years ago.

IP finishes and gucci Mitsubishi shafts just go together, like Coke and red.

Anyone know how this would compare to a Ventus Blue 6X vs the 63X for example? Spec wise, are they worlds apart or very similar? Thanks!

Spec wise they are far apart.

Blue being a mid soft blueboard profile will typically have a stiff handle soft mid and stiff tip.

The white board as seen from the charts above having a semi stiff handle stiff mid and semi stiff tip to make more of a prototypical linear feel.

But they are specs at the end of the day. Each might feel similar to you or not.

Yes, there will be.  It won't be available right away with the WB.

As a long time Whiteboard fan I’m really wanting one of these WB20’s for my new Callaway Ai Smoke Max driver.

Unsure if I go 53 or 63 weight class in stiff flex but given the TXG review I’m maybe leaning towards the 53. Looks great and I’m sure it’s a killer new shaft to compare to my GT60 stiff and 1K Pro White 60 stiff.
