If you got your balls for free what would you play?

So, if you were sponsored or didn’t have to pay for your golf balls, what would be your ball of choice?

Left dash.  It's the only ball besides CSX LS(1st gen)that brings down spin enough enough for me while maintaining higher launch which is ideal for courses here in SoCal, minus windy days.  However, with all the good things I'm hearing about the '24 TP5x, I may change my mind, lol.

@phizzy30 I've heard it mention a few times, that the new 24' TP5 is going to be very similar to the 2019 ball and that's the ball that Several of the PGA Guys love and stocked up on, is there any truth in that? if so it's refreshing to see TM listen or make adjustments and go back to something that is known to perform, where as with some companies they continue to roll out new updated models that simply move the needle in reverse.

 

I know my son & a few playing buddies are keeping a watch full eye on this ball and plans to play them once released.

I would play the left dot, but Gaming the new Srixon Z Star XV as it's a good ball for me, but if $ and availability were not an issue probably the MTB Black

The latest Taylormade Tour Response in a variety of colors to suit course conditions.  Florescent lime green is nice when the fairways are covered with leaves.  I can see that!

 

But, if they would make something for me, I'd like a ProV1 with a low compression for my swing speed!

Yes, I tried the AVX but the Tour Response is a better fit.  It has a lower compression than the AVX.  Or it could be something else.

Encore vero x. Superior ball for accuracy and iron control while still being long off the tee. Only weakness in my testing is 1-200 more rpms than my left dash but less sidespin and tighter dispersion than all the balls I tried (all tour and direct to market).

Really a surprise. 

Next v1x (overall monster) or left dash (poor chip consistency for spin). Then the new vice pro plus shockingly 4th. I tried to make it lose to my XVs or TPs which are disappointing.

Vero x is my shock winner, the other encore ball elixir is just ok - good but like just below tp5 good.

ProV1X. But I don't mind paying for them. I wear them out more then lose them these days. I have a bucket of used ones I use for short game practice. 

 

When I was more wild off the tee I played Z-Stars since I could get great deals on them. Great balls, but I like the ProV a little better.

Free or not, I play ProV1x most of the time, but high 90+ temps I switch to DASH -ProV1x.  I carry a few AVX for bad rainy weather

Why do you think low compression is better for low swing speed?

My testing indicates that the Tour Response gives me the most distance off the tee.  Research suggests a compression around 70.

Have you seen the extensive results of ball testing, for different swing speeds on that “Spy” site?

Yes, I've read the ball testing.  I have a consistent swing and play the same 9 hole course to learn the game.  One benchmark is trying to reach bunkers.

Plain vanilla ProV1. Without even any additional letters or punctuation marks or prototype emojis. 

 

Played them almost since they came out a couple decades ago - at which time they were almost revolutionary. Pretty much the only consistent thing in my entire bag. (Yeah, I know it has changed and evolved over the years, but I've found most changes relatively minor to get used to, and usually quite positive.) 

 

They are a bit expensive, but really, the ball is ultimately the thing that you actually have to get into the hole. At the end of the day, pretty much the whole damn point of golf.
