Tiger Woods & TaylorMade "Sun Day Red" apparel launch event, product photos – 2024 Genesis Invitational

This looks like IZOD hired a community college Graphic Designer to create the name and logo. Unfortunately the kid chose to rip off Off White. IZOD loved it and jumped into their time machine and slapped in all over their Summer '98 lineup.

Sorry….. it’s weird and I just cant get over it. The tiger logo is fine but the three word weirdly spaced thing is a deal breaker for me. Guess I’m sticking with FJ and Holderness & Bourne

As more and more photos are coming out, the logo placement is just "off"...

Sometimes it's centered, others it's on the left or right and sometimes it's just off to the left or right of center.  Doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason and it looks strange.

And the "Sun Day Red" text down the shoulder of shirts and back of the pant leg looks cheap.

As others have said, maybe he is trying to capture a new market segment going towards a lifestyle brand, but I don't understand why you would go away from the "TW" that has been synonymous with you as THE brand for the last 27 years.

Did you read any of the articles or interviews?  It is a separate brand/entity.  It is a new company.

I didn't know and was just curious, so I Googled it....

Unless Google is wrong.....  The "power color" of a Capricorn is not red.

Capricorn (Dec 22-Jan 19): Brown, ochre and grey
Think of a mountain goat climbing a steep barren cliff and you have your colors waiting to be embraced: earthy browns and ochres strung together with hints of greys. Not only do you work hard, stay grounded and remain persistent, but you also never fail to generously sprinkle some wisdom and experience into whatever you do. These earthy hues help you personify these traits brilliantly.

Not knocking it, and I could care less and don't believe in all that crap... but in actuality, Red is the power color of an Aries

Aries (Mar 21-April 19): Red
Your fiery energy would work wonders with a dash of grounding and a lot of awareness. Hence, red could be your go-to, as long as it is not something you drench yourself in. A few accents here and a few splashes there in your wardrobe or your personal space are all you need to fuse its anchoring vibe in your life. Pro-tip: Try a classic deep red instead of a brighter red to enhance its power of planting you in your present while you get busy creating your ideal life.

Thai mother (ASIAN) .. power color for Sunday is Red.

So it's designed for the youth, but what social media is saying doesn't matter? Riiiiight.

Anything with Tiger's name on it is going to get a ton of impressions, doesn't mean it's going to sell when half the reactions from them are people laughing or saying it's not for them. I promise you the sentiment analysis for this reveal isn't positive.

What sentiment analysis are you speaking of?  An echo chamber on Insta or in this thread doesn't count.

Hard to sell more of the same with the same logo. Gotta differentiate the product, but the logo just had to be better.

I like the logo. It grew on me. I hate the script. It doesn’t tie in with the logo at all. I would think a font similar to the Tiger logo would look much better. Honestly I hope these eventually are logo only with no writing.

In regards to why there is a space between the Sun and Day... I stole this from Van Neylon Customs on Insta.

On their website, they're listed as Sunday Red PLC, but quote SDR in their texts. They also list Sun Day Red, Sunday Red, Tiger Stripes Logo, and SDR Tiger Stripes Logo as trademarks.

Trademarks can be weird, companies can fight for years to get their unique names accepted, but sometimes some generic name or phrase gets through when you'd think it would never be approved.

Well, being a bit of a nerd on the Nike golf logos, I can actually confirm:

"Woods’ helped develop the logo, feeling a strong connection to the meaning behind the Yin Yang that represents the union of opposing forces. Nike cites Woods’ balance of physical and mental gamesmanship and focused-yet-passionate style of play further supporting the Yin Yang motif."

I'm assuming the shoes are made by G/Fore?

Seeing as they have a relationship w TM already & TM and the shoe games really don't go hand n hand?

I'd take the fish bones of the new logo over that old terrible Yin Yang one. Although the guff for both is impressive.

What sentiment analysis would count if not social media & online locations frequented by the target demo? Is there some other medium you know of where you can easily segment reactions to have an idea of how desired groups view a product or campaign? You think the cool kids you say this is aimed towards aren't active on SM? You also think the "willing to spend on golf" crowd that makes up places like this isn't a reflection of who would be interested in this? You think one of the main photographers for this site was invited to the reveal because GolfWRX's demo is irrelevant to the brand?

You see the world in a very interesting way, I'll give you that.

I am saying that snap reactions on social media does not equate to brand sentiment in the long-run.  I am referring to actual market and brand analysis that marketing professionals get paid to conduct.  Look it up or take a marketing 101 class.

Also, this isn’t just a golf brand.   There may be crazy interest from 50 year old women in Hong Kong.  Are you gauging their opinions as well?   Marketers do, and 18 hours after a brand release is too early to get actual sentiment.  It can take 6-12 months for a new brand to get traction.

I view the world where golf is just one piece of the puzzle.  Example above.

In a year let’s see how popular the brand is.  What metrics would you want to see for “sentiment”?   Sales?

Social media is a piece of the puzzle, but doesn’t show the entire picture of who buys, when, and how much.

Another example: some people here hate turbulators, yet a month after the 10k release there are new Ping customers.
