Ian Poulter this week

So if I recall correctly he needs approx. $40 grand this week to get his card back

He's pretty polarizing ... sooooo .. Who is and who isn't pulling for him? Ryder Cup antics and performances clearly a factor

Personally, I'd like to see him make it back as golf needs more "characters"

I will pull for him but even if he doesn't make it he won't have a lot of problems getting invites for tournaments to regain his card

Can't stand him. Losing his card might help him realise he's not the worlds 2nd best player, never has been, and never will be.

Sure I'll pull for him as it's not worth it to root against someone. As already mentioned even if he doesn't keep his card sponsors will still line up to give him exemptions just based on his name recognition. In a weak field like Valero, Poulter is a big name that could help attendance at the event. Just the fact he has 2 topics on the front page of this forum tells you the guy is a lightning bolt that generates interest.

Let's say you are playing with him and it comes down to you missing a putt (that makes no difference to you) for him to keep his card. Do you miss it on purpose? Tell him you'll miss it for like 100k or one of his cars?

I think he's kind of obnoxious, but there's no law against that. I'd never pull for anyone to lose their card. Man's gotta eat, y'know.

If the purse structure is similar to last year, he'll need to finish around 30th or so.

Even if he loses his card, Ian will have no problem finding events to play in through sponsors exemptions. This really is more artifical drama that is not needed.

This is made up drama. It isn't like if he doesn't make the $30k this week loses everything and can't enter another tournament for the rest of the year.

I don't dislike him, but he's not one of my favorite players. I give him cred for his Ryder Cup performances, but that's it.

If I remember correctly, the great Phil Mickelson was the #2 golfer in the world when "Poults" made his infamous statement. I wonder what Phil thought.

He is indeed the poster child for all those on here who dream of one day being good enough for the <insert name of> Tour.

So for that reason, in that he represents "hope" to us all, I have to root for him, especially seeing as he's had to fold his clothing business up this year already .. can't kick a man when he's down (to his last seven Ferraris) :)

From what I have seen of him last years, his swing is simply not good enough. Maybe needs a year off? Otherwise, I cannot say that I root for him but there are room for characters like him on tour. He's not boring.

If he needs $31K to keep his card, he needs to finish in 36th place. That would be a payout of $31,930. 37th place would come up just short at $30,380.

I like Poulter. However I bet 10 years from now he is broke and playing on the Champions Tour for a paycheck. Based on his social media accounts he spends tons on money. He also just shut down his clothing line.

Average joes that were complete douchenozzles at his place of employment. You don't see IJP going into Burger King to harass those guys when they mess up someone's Whopper, do you?

He's hit some of the best shanks on tour, of course I'll pull for the chance to see more of that.

I'm kind of Poulter-agnostic but as it pertains to this particular event if he's played it before I'd check to see what his results have been.
