SNELL GOLF BALLS??? anyone???

Recommended Posts

I am going with the Prime

I think it will be closer to the Black I use to play.

I am digging the logo and the side stamp

The old Snell ball was a champ in the wind, still hope that is the case with the Prime

Looking forward to these.

Also looking forward to the high numbers again too.

I like the new logo and font on the golf balls.  Ordered the test pack and looking forward to get them on the course for testing.  There's a nice & informative article by Tony on MGS about the new Snell's.

Dang, I’m bummed about the new balls. I feel like the mtb-x is a perfect fit for me with the firm, high launch, high spin. There is no longer a fit for me if these ball perform how they say. Back to the V1x I suppose.

Same here, I’ve been waiting to place a bulk order for another DTC ball but these just don’t fit me. I need high launch and high spin (Pro V1x). I know it personal preference but neither the alignment aid or script looks good to me. I really like the new S/G logo, why not just have that instead of “Snell Golf”. Oh well, I guess at least I have an easy decision.

Nothing against Snell I’m sure their models will fit lots of golfers out there but just not for me. However I do think that the majority of amateurs that think their spin and flight are too high are misled.

I loved the low iron spin of the soft feeling MTB Black. Not a fan of this change at all. Also I hate the new look

The new look makes it look like a ball from the 90s. Not a fan

LOL the test packs are already sold out???  Can't they just start mixing boxes so we can try out both versions?

For a company that was already taking a hit due to lack of availability, this seems like a significant faux pas to me. I was hoping to compare some to another DTC that I recently purchased.

Grrr, no yellow until summer? bummer. Count me as someone that doesn't give a F about logo's, fonts, etc. Does the ball play well? That's all I care about. No longer a cast urethane cover though, wonder if that will change the performance at all. I hope not, the MTB-X is the best wind ball I've ever played.

Yes, I wonder about this too.  I prefer the feel of cast urethane, but I'm guessing the TPU cover will not affect my play at all.

I'm the other side of the spectrum. A recent equipment change in my irons (going from X100's to $-tapers) has made my irons spin a bit more than I'm used to, and it's taken off a few yards off.  My contact is more consistent with the $-tapers (suits my timing much more than the x100s). So I'm looking for a tour caliber-DTC ball that will lower iron spin, but will still give appropriate green side spin and good speed off the driver. I'm hopeful the MTB Prime X will do that.

Stocked up on the Srixon XV from last year. Curious how these new balls test out. I used to love the MTB-X. Almost a no brainer to move onto them once my stock is out.

New font and script on the ball looks much better imho. Softer with more spin on the prime might be worth me testing.

I just ordered a test pack - 2 sleeves of each.  Not sure which one I will want.   I used the MTB Black before production issues.  Switched to Pro V1.  Would be happy to go back if I find one I like.

Yes, MyGolf$py article confirmed that the Prime balls are not produced at the Nassau factory and that the covers are TPU (meaning not Foremost either). It mentioned the Prime is produced in a factory in China and Prime X in Taiwan (possibly Launch Technologies?). My guess is that one of these are made in the same factory that the Get Sum is produced in. Another note is that Dean mentioned the dimple pattern as 322 in the launch video, but the MyGolf$py article and USGA conforming list have 332.

The switch to TPU is disappointing, but I can appreciate the tough spot that Dean was in with Nassau (and the fact that he is properly planning from a resiliency standpoint by not relying on a single factory this time around). From a business standpoint this was a necessary change but it expands the available vendors and should hopefully resolve the supply challenges moving forward. I will say that I have far more confidence in Dean dictating a TPU design than any other DTC (most of which simply go with the off the shelf offering of the new factory after exiting Nassau or Foremost).

I felt that the MTB Black spun too much for me and that the X had perfect iron and driver spin. Not sure how I feel about firming up the Prime X and lowering spin.

I play yellow, so I’ll have to wait until that’s released to buy. Also, wondering when Ballnamic will get data on the new release. I’m trying out the Bridgestone X S because of its recommendation.

The Black was the lower spinning ball, so you might have just mixed these up.

It depends on the type of shot. Off the tee and around the green performance was more or less the same (cover/dimple pattern were the same). The main differences were the overall compression and the mid/long iron spin being slightly higher with the X, granted the differences were less than most of the other OEMs regular vs X offerings.
