Favorite PGA Tour Swing of All Time?

late to the party.

Rory.

I'm no big Rory fan otherwise but I guess I do agree there. He's the only one that makes a drive look as something like a slap shot in hockey. I do have a soft spot for the smooth South African swings (is there a trainer behind it?), Ernie, Oosthuisen, Van Zyl.... But Rory tops the list.

Strangely enough, there is no one from my home country that has some kind of aestethics in the golf swing.

I like the swings of:

Tiger

Adam Scott

Rory

Justin Thomas

I kind of have the same aggressive/controlled transition as they do, I wish I could play like them, but those are the swings I emulate (try to at least)...

It was certainly far from text book, but I love to watch Tiger's 1997 swing, always wonder what would have happened if he had just refined that swing instead of reworking and then reworking again and reworking....

He would have struggled once courses got longer. His long iron game was iffy. Would have won a bunch still but would have had career more like Phils

Sam Snead & Ernie Els - If I had to choose only one, it would have to be Sam Snead.

I could watch Sam hit balls for hours on end.

thank you for the link T!

I love the other legends sightings in the video. get to see Geiberger making a swing. Hale hitting a few woods. Bean just sitting on his bag watching Snead practice. And jesus when he got up how much closer behind Snead could he setup to practice pitches? Was he just trying to get close enough for something from Snead to rub off on him? And there's Seve down the other end. Wonder how many parked cars down the left side of the range he bounce balatas off? Really cool to see Sam walk down the end of the line and watch him.

Yes, Geiberger, saw him in NJ at a standard brands (mr peanut) outing in late 70's, great swing !

For me without a doubt even though it won't be the popular opinion -- Bubba Watson. (Jack is a close second) It comes from having personal experience with aspects related to his swing. I can't get away with Bubba's top of the swing position with a steep arm, but I think it just looks so natural. I remember when I was young and got lessons from instructors/unwanted lessons from driving range helpfuls and they were just the worst things you could ever tell anyone related to golf. Now, I wished my grandfather would have taught me more (and wish he were in a better mind today that he would be able to understand and recognize how much he really did know) -- grandfather always insisted that he didn't know enough about golf to teach anyone well enough but now that I'm older I find that what he knew about it was far and away better than what any teaching "pro" ever told me.

I remember one lesson that I went to when I was young, and the pro noticed that my lead heel came up off the ground when I turned away from the ball. Informed me that that would be "priority number 1" to fix, because it "was an old school move that caused power leaks." Wanted me to keep my right leg ramrod as it was at address. Even as a little kid I knew it felt stupidly unnatural and wrong. Second person I remember once telling me that I had to fix my "follow through" (How do you fix a follow through and who cares?) because it was too high. As you can see from my profile picture, I still haven't fixed that follow through ;) but the wrap around the neck type follow throughs feel awful to me and obviously your follow through is a result.

So yes, Bubba. I also love how his follow through always matches what he's trying to do with a shot. It's just very cool to watch, I think. And that was something that my grandfather did teach me -- think about the follow through you want to have for the shot you're making.

Interestingly enough, it seems a little to me that Bubba's arm has actually gotten steeper over the years. Watching a video from the 2007 US open, he seems like he was in a different position at the top. Realize slightly different camera angles but still.
