As for the rule. It's needs to be re-defined to include intent. Moving a grain of sand is not what I consider grounding. What if someone is in a lateral hazard with long grass and the wind blows a blade of grass which makes contact with the club? Did a person ground it in that situation?Grounding a club is a pretty deliberate action. Stupid rule and the USGA sucks a$% once again for how they handled the situation.

 

It was not the wind the blew the grain of sand into her club.

 

It sucks, but that's why a bunker shot is difficult, you have to make sure there is no chance your club catches the sand at address or backswing.

Touching blades of grass in a hazard is not grounding a club, but please continue your rant on the rules, you clearly know them so well.

 

Include intent? I didn't mean to hit that ball out of bounds. No penalty! I didn't mean to carry 15 clubs. No penalty.

I'm not a USGA defender in any sense of the word, but that was handled just fine. Players were notified as soon as the ruling was made.
