Has anyone noticed any differences with the newer stock of the 4-piece balls? Below is a pic of a ball I played for 18 holes and it's pretty discolored. This is from an order in early April. I played them all last year and don't remember seeing this type of wear. I didn't notice anything different in playability, so it's probably just cosmetic. It's certainly not going to have me changing balls, but it made me curious enough to take a picture and ask around.

Β

edit: someone I know suggested it could be caused by my black pants pockets. So if no one else is experiencing this, that could be it.

I have played some of these for about the same length of time and haven't noticed any discoloration like that. In fact, I am almost finding the latest batches to be more durable than what I remember last year.

Haven't noticed any discoloration either, and I went almost 2 full rounds with the same ball before it met it's watery grave. Stupid wind.

Can anyone tell me how the 4 piece compares to the Callaway Chrome Speed? I have about 4 dozen of each and want to get rid of one set - I just don't play enough anymore to keep this many dozens of balls, I have a solid 3 dozen others that are in 2 and 3 sleeves of a certain type as well.

Β

Thanks!

Β

I think they are similar. Both are firmer balls, urethane cover. Good performance.

If you are talking about the short run, discontinued Chrome Speed, I'd be glad to help relieve you of any burden they may be imposing upon you :-). . PM me if you decide to let go of the Chrome Speeds.

Windy today, gusts over 25, playing bridgestone rX, Callaway Chrome, and a K sig. Had 2 shots balloon badly, both times it was the ksig. Kind of impressed with the Bridgestone as I usually play Callaways and Taylormades.

Funny...I played in the wind also today with a Ksig,Superhot & ProV1

I had the Superhot & ProV balloon on me twice but the Ksig sailed under the wind like a Ninja in the dark every time.

Could it just be that we hit the balloon balls a bit higher on the face? Got a bit more of a juicy lie with them or any of the other 100 reasons that can go wrong in a swing to make a ball fly higher than you want?

Β

Im leaning towards operator error in my case...

I flat wore myself out hitting enough shots to be sure it was not random operator error. Into a steady 10mph wind original K-Sig showed no tendency to upshoot off 8-iron, PW or GW. It had a fairly high trajectory overall but flat enough not to be bothered by the wind.

Β

K-3 was a whole β€˜nother story. Upshoots with a normal swing, upshoots a LOT if I swing hard with a wedge.

I agree with North Butte.

Β

I think the K3 with the mid iron - Wedge... the K3 has high initial launch for me. Kind of just "floats" to my eye.

Β

I didn't have much issues with wind disturbing the ball.

Β

However the K sig I can easily play with trajectory
