Nike Lunar Control Vapor

Those will be my next white golf shoes, replacing my faithful TW13.

 

Do we know the release date yet?

 

The Nike Lunar Control Vapor, available in men’s and women’s sizing, will first be available in the United States in limited colorways via the Nike+ App on November 22. Additional colorways will launch on nike.com on November 25.

back on topic. nice but would prefer with a spike. hopefully they offer an option later down the road. play too many rounds in morning dew and humid/soft fairway conditions. would be slipping way too much.

Looks like it both are making its debut.

 

The photo shoot was probably taking months ago, like most of these products are thought out ahead of time.

 

Most likely taken way before Nike exited the golf equipment side of things.

He wore the Chukkas alot last year. He also wore the Air Maxs a couple of times

 

Not in the majors and not in the playoffs.

 

not to mention his version of the air max shoes had special spikes attached to them, so they weren't exactly a spikeless.

 

and he was also slated to wear the flyknit lunar elites when they launched, but scraped that idea for the LC4's. The tread pattern is the same, so unless he feels more comfortable with them, i can see a special spiked edition for rory.

 

McIlroy also used the relative seclusion for final testing of Nike Golf’s latest shoe: The Nike Lunar Control Vapor, putting to paces its Articulated Integrated Traction outsole.

 

After an initial trial on the driving range, McIlroy played nine holes and deliberately hit extra shots from all possible angles — side-hill, down-hill lies, bunkers and more — to push the limit of the shoe.

 

“For as long as I can remember, I’ve played golf in spiked footwear, and up until two years ago those spikes were metal,” McIlroy recalls. “Through its drive to innovate and bring the sport to new places, Nike has created a new traction system that provides me with a stable base to push off the ground and deliver the distance I need off the tee.”

Are these the LC5s? Was seeing on instagram people were calling them Lunar Control Vapor... is that a name change or a different spikeless shoe?

i believe they're the same. seeing how the roman numeral V is 5, i can see nike making it one and the same.

 

from the looks of the catalog and the nike discussion, the new lunar commands may be the spiked alternative, as opposed to the 'step down' version.

I'm done with spikeless, nice shoe but I'm spikes only going forward.

Interesting. I'll probably give them a crack next year when the prices drop. I do that with all my shoes lol. Waiting for the LC4s to come down in price so I can pick up a pair.

 

The angles of the photos make a huge difference. Using a blade type pattern is interesting. A lot of football managers (Sir Alex Ferguson I believe being one) banned players from blades because they felt injury rates would be higher due to them getting caught in turf. Obviously different sports though.

Not a fan of Nike using fabric/cloth on golf shoes(especially white ones). The dark colors will be fine but the white ones will end up looking like several pics I've seen of people Air Zoom 90s. I like to keep my shoes for a while(8 pairs in my current rotation) and white fabric just doesn't last.

There will not be a "Lunar Control 5".

 

The Lunar Control Vapor is a completely new platform.

 

The Lunar Command line will take over the Lunar Control platform. So the Lunar Command line will effectively be the next version of the Lunar Control (#) line, but at a lower price point.

How do we feel they will stand up in comparison to any turf damage compared to spikes on greens? They're cleats right?

I apologize if this was answered in another thread, but didn't see it posted here, does anybody know what kind of price point we're looking at on these? $180-ish? Same as previous LC models?

I might be going to FJ then. Lunar command's had less spike pods than the LCs. If that isn't changing, I'm going to FJ because I want the traction, and FJ gets it.

Not sure how people are comparing these to regular spikeless shoes.

 

By the appearance of the sole, these seem to have more spike surface area than even a spiked shoe. Those built in spikes are super aggressive compared to any spiked shoe - yet alone spikeless shoes. Wouldn't shock me if these have the best traction on the market.

 

If they can handle Rory's swing, they should be able to handle anyone's swing on here.

 

Agreed on the swoosh though. That placemention is the only downfall, IMO.
