Tiger designing new taylormade irons

I would have to think DJ would be all over this as well. He's still gaming the old MB's for the most part.

Its going to be a custom grind blade that is shaped precisely to what he wants. It wont be released to us, but maybe they will release a version. Maybe he will have some input on their future iron designs, but the iron he'll be designing for himself will be a chrome muscleback blade.

Last set Tiger helped to design at Nike the Vapor Pros were not blades nor muscle backs but more like in the style of an 15 year old improved forged cavity back.

If anyone really believes that Tiger will be slaving away in front of an advanced CAD/CAM terminal :scenic: , put down the bottle. I can see him examining a few prototype heads from Endo, hitting them and then suggesting changes in toe shape, leading edge grind, top line thickness, and bounce. I also believe they will greatly resemble his original Nike blades, Mizuno MP14s or 29s. :taunt:

 

Those of us who started playing in the mid 1960s have seen every possible blade design come and go. There is not a helluva lot you can do with a true muscle back iron that has not already been done before.

From a marketing perspective, right now TaylorMade is riding Tiger's initial wave with the driver and woods. Waiting a few months, not that it's their intention, will bring a second wave of exposure and another new ad campaign. Not such a bad thing.

You forgot that Endo's master forger will be supervising the process

I hope they make something nice. I agree that the last MB Taylormade (or Mizuno) offered were very neat. We shall see!

Personally, I hope they just re-release the current model (2014 MB) with "TaylorMade" logo on the toe and the "TP" medallion in the center of the muscle.

 

Or, better yet, the "TP" medallion on the toe of the muscle (like the MP14) and a TaylorMade logo on the hosel.

Don't know why people keep throwing Miura into the convo. They are no better than Endo forged or Mizuno forged. I've hit Miuras and rainbows aren't shooting from the club face and unicorns don't forge the irons with their horns. They are good... but not mystical.

 

TM will make a great blade for Tiger, and I'll want them... no shame here.
