Matsuyama's game is all over the place. Double crosses into the fescue, bogeys everywhere, and then dunks in an eagle 2 from the fairway.

 

I can relate...to being in the fescue anyway.

John Rahm is not having a good round. +4 and his emotions are getting the best of him. A lot of golf left, but it seems like he is his own worst enemy some days.

This live streaming coverage is terrible. I want to hear the golf more, not the announcers more. I want to hear the ball and the atmosphere, not the piped in fake bird sounds. There's no trees. There aren't any birds there!

 

I wouldn't doubt that they are piping in fake bird sounds but on actual links courses (not pastures in Wisconsin dressed up to look links-y) this time of year you'll hear plenty of birds even without a tree within a mile of you. Lots of birds nest on the ground or in tall grass, not in trees.

I do love that there is a built-in DVR for the feature groups and you're able to go back a half hour. I was able to see the Nancy strap kick.

enough with the whinning about fake birds.... Fox recorded the vocals of the Stunella Magna and Dolichonyx Oryzivorus as to project a calming sound. In the hopes of preventing viewer from throwing their morning bloody mary's at the flat screen.

From what I have seen, all I can say is AWESOME course. Big, long, and extremely fair if you're not hitting it wild into the fescue. Greens do not seems to be the crazy USGA speeds - likely helped by the wind, but also from the holes I've seen no pins cut right on the edge of a big slope.

If what Rory said was true, these are some of the worst drivers of the ball. Someone is in the fescue on every hole.

The bird chirp app needs to go! USGA needs to work on their SEO, googling for a link to their live feed returns everything but usopen.com.

That said, once there the featured groups stream is pretty darn good :)
