I'm going with the stats leaders in scoring average and top 10s because I think those reflect an overall high level of play.

 

Scoring: Garcia, Spieth, Fowler, Thomas.

 

Top 10s: Thomas, Rahm, Spieth, Johnson.

 

Two players are in the top four of both; Spieth and Thomas. So those are my picks with an edge to Spieth due to his winning experience.

Will there be play-by-play (shot tracker) on the USGA site or at PGA.com? I don't see anything on the scoring site of the USGA that looks like it will be there.

 

Without shot tracker we are dependant on TV to follow the players and how they play.

I don't see the big deal about the rough. Most muni courses in Alabama have 40-50 yard fairways then impenetrable thickets you can't find your ball in that are way worse than 3 foot tall fescue.
