How the heck do you guys have these kinds of ballspeeds? Wow! I feel great if I see 150. I'll just shut up and color....

Ball speed is nice to see but it doesn't amount to much without the right fit

Dustin Johnson ball speed average 183 mph, so you are 15 mph faster than DJ? Wow maybe you should be on Tour you could dominate ! At least off the tee.

What was the spin number on the M3? Had to be like 5000ish for that carry with 198 ball speed, right?

Curious why you didn't pop your shaft from the '16 M1 into the M3 and M4.

I have found that Hammerhead tech in the M3 is great for high swing speed players. M4 Head spins about 500 more than M3 for me. Neither are spectacular enough to jump and replace my 2016 M1 without extensive research

M3 with stock Tensei White 60 (spinny but hot off the face) *not even close to the right fit for me

Ping G400 LsT w stock tour 65 (not right for for me either burn i liked the trajectory)

My 2016 M1 w Tensei white 80tx

I'm surprised the G400 had a higher launch angle than the M3 but didn't peak nearly as high. Ball speed and carry were very close to you gamer even with the stock shaft. All lofts roughly the same? Maybe a Tensei Pro White 70TX or even a KK DCXT in the G400 LST would beat your gamer distance wise?

Here is what happened to me.

I have been playing the '17 M2 with GD DI. I actually loved this combo, but then traded it in for the M4. The M4 was going left on me a lot and seemed a bit shorter. Not hooks, but just over drawing. I also prefer the sound of the M2.

Has anyone previously playing the M2 and now opted for the M3?

I played the 16 M2 with extra weight and then the 17 M2 with extra weight. Then switched to the Epic with extra weight for the second half of 17 season. Epic was really consistent for me and the HO in me drove me to try the new TM offerings. I've had better luck with TM in the past and actually couldn't remember the last non-TM driver that I've played in the past 4-5 years. I was getting better distance number (8-10yds) overall and better dispersion with the M3 440 in the monitor at the local Golf Galaxy. I also tried the M4 and when hit in the middle was getting same distance gains over my gamer Epic, but the dispersion was not as good as M3. I was spinning the M4 and Epic about 4-600 rpms more than the M3. I tried the M3 460 and wasn't hitting it as well as either the 440 or the M4 so not sure what's up with that.

Now I'm wondering if I don't try the M1 440 against the M3 440 and see what shakes out.

It didn’t pick up spin but the temp was also about 35* with a slight breeze quartering into and the TM was not normalized. Also the clubs were demos and they don’t like when you start unscrewing their heads and swapping out shafts not to mention I am anal and superstitious with my driver in that I dont take it apart once i get in a groove with it.

* I have hit the M3 and M4 with my shaft in them and between the 2, M3 gave me better numbers and lower spin but the head weight of the M3 was way off in comparison to my M1 so it never felt right. M3 also launched about 1.5* higher on average than my M1 on the same setting. Without going through a whole fitting I think I could switch to M3 or G400 LsT and be comfortable with my current shaft

The G400 LsT May be worth a try with another shaft... while close to my gamer, the distances aren’t really numbers I personally looked much into because my driver is much shorter and much heavier than the off the rack demo drivers so it isn’t an apples to apples comparison. Plus the majority of the balls I hit with the OTR demo clubs were turning right (drawing) while my driver is pretty darn straight the majority of the time.

Those numbers are a little crazy, but I've played with TB, and he's as long or longer than anyone on Tour. I think he was measured on trackman at a state tournament a few years ago with ball speed in the high 180s, so with a light shaft, he might be able to get up that high (I'm not sure of the monitor used, so it the numbers might be inflated a bit), though he'd sacrifice control. When he pounds one with the driver, it's massive. I'm no slouch compared with most mortals, but he's in a different league.

Was this at Carl's in Bloomfield? I hit both at the Plymouth Carl's, and was a little surprised when they were really accommodating when I asked to try a couple of different shafts, and they went to their fitting cart and grabbed them for me, and they were cool with me switching out shafts between the two clubs. I've had less than outstanding service at that location before, and I was pleasantly surprised in this instance.

Have had the m3 440 10 degree with Graphite Design IZ-6 and m3 fairway with iz-7 for over a week now and the honeymoon period is going strong.

Initial impression regarding the m3 440 is it is not as left friendly as the m1 440 for some reason was for me, and definitely delivers on being a low spin head. My trusted fitter who had plenty of time with the IZ series implored me to go with a tipped stiff when previously we went untipped x in other GD offerings because he said the shaft has a distinctive feel and can hold up with fast swings very well, and I am glad that I listened to his advice. Two of my guys who hold pro status with 170 ballspeeds remarked at how well the shaft still holds up, given it's stated flex. The m1 440 with the weight in the back was probably one of the best feelings head I have ever hit, and the 440 is not as muted, but I also have the weights in the middle so far, and I know that changes perceived sound/feel.

The 460 was different than last years m1 460 for me in that regardless of what indoor testing told me, I saw a visible change in ballflight, with a steeper decent angle.

As for twistface, I definitely think it helps on slightly off-centered hits through my own testing and watching it being hit by the two above mentioned guys for almost 200 balls.

For reference I felt that 16 m2 was the best head they ever made, but the m3 440 has quickly replaced it, FOR ME, it is that good and more. Every year I spent the whole season debating whether to go m1, m1 440, or m2, going back and forth, but this year is is 440 from the getgo.

I've got the '17 m1 440 with a ADTP 6x. What would you say is the difference between the TP and the IZ? Higher ball flight on the IZ? I'm really interested in upgrading because I feel like my the '17 440 is just a hook machine for me.

What's your driver swing speed and tempo/release type. I just ordered my daughter the M4 D-type with the AD IZ 6 stiff, untipped. Ordered on the blind so we'll see. Her swing speed is 96-99 mph. Hoping the IZ in stiff is not too much for her? She's playing the Rogue Tour Black 60 in stiff in her M2 and has no problem loading it.

Ended up ordering the M3 with the GD AD IZ 6x shaft. Hope it's here before the weekend.

That's the combo I have been pondering, maybe even the IZ 5X if they will let me order it. Did you go down in loft to offset the higher IZ launch ?

I have my current driver (915) playing around 10.25 and went with the 9.5 in the M3.

Hit the m4 tour and the m3 fairways today.

M4 tour seems to sit really closed compared to the m3.

M3 looked to sit perfectly square to me. Very nice. Both felt very solid

Yes it was but I think it was more that they didn’t want me taking their head off and putting my shaft in it because I had my whole bag of clubs there practicing and it was somewhat busy

Does TM's "standard tipping" option still mean tipped 1"? I'm thinking about an M3 driver with the IZ-6 as well and don't want to mess up my order haha

Yes it will be 1.” The options allow you to specify 1” soft which would be untipped.

Now everyone's results can vary but I'll speak just to my own experience. In the same flex, I've felt that in terms of loading and stability, the di felt the loosest, than the tp, with the IZ feeling the firmest of the three. I feel the IZ and TP perform similarly in the air but the IZ just feels more stable. I don't subscribe to hitting trackman indoors so I don't have numbers to back it up but I have been playing the TP all last year so I feel my eyes have a good sense of how it performs, my favorite shaft has been the tensei white pro and the IZ feels just as stable with higher launch, while the tp6 felt like it had more play through impact.

I have an M3 coming with IZ 6 Stiff and I my SS is 108-109 but I'd still think it would be fine for her.

Does TM's "standard tipping" option still mean tipped 1"? I'm thinking about an M3 driver with the IZ-6 as well and don't want to mess up my order haha

Yes it will be 1." The options allow you to specify 1" soft which would be untipped.

So, if I was fitted at a GG hitting from a bag full of shafts, is that the shaft I will get if I just selected "Standard" on my order on TM website?

Took the M3 out with a HZRDUS Evenflow blue last weekend and was pretty impressed with it. With the weather around here not letting me get to the range I literally took it to the first tee (range was closed) brand new. Maybe some carpet on it. First swing was the first of 9 FW's hit on the day and always a good start with a new driver. Ended up 9/14 fw's on the day but with huge wind it was hard to tell distance but it did seem twist face actually kept the hit out toward the toe more straight. The Epic was long for me but sometimes pretty wild. One thing I noticed was it seemed to launch lower than other TM drivers have for me in the past so I will probably turn it up close to 10* for my next round.

I'm really interested in hitting the IZ, TP & DI together in a head to head comparison, hearing great feedback about the IZ. M3 or M4 see which one works out better, have to get correctly fit, just trying to get access to these shafts is a tall order.....

Ordered the M3 440 10 with the same black DI shaft I'm using on my '17 M1 460. The IZ shafts just aren't ringing my bell and my fitter feels the same. We'll see how it does on the course next week.

FWIW, TM is likely having some kind of a problem with the M4 heads. I looked at 10 heads yesterday and three of them were at least 4 deg open. The rest were about 1 deg open to square.

Has anyone tested M3 and M4 woods and chosen one or the other? Who went M4 over M3 and why?

M4 tour looks more closed to me then the M2 tour

M3 and m4 both look really good. Sit very square. They look and feel great!

I did and thinking M4 3 wood and M4 5 wood for my bag. They just seemed easier to hit and went longer. The M4 5 wood is a beast and it could hit it almost as far as the 3 wood. An M4 4 wood would probably be all I need for fairways if it was available.

I went with the M4 driver and M3 3 and 5wood. I had a fitting at the kingdom and needed the flatter lie angle for my FWY's but the 12 degree in my driver... Crazy I am a +3 and was only spinning my M2 1350...

They make a hl version of the M4, which is basically a 4 wood at 16.5 degrees.
