TaylorMade M3 and M4 Drivers and Metalwoods

Got a chance to hit my M4D with the IZ7 for about 15 swings yesterday. Not sure if it was the head, shaft, or both but Club was giving me high bombs. Range was 5-8 mph down wind out of the left and my first few swings were producing a higher ball flight than I was used to. However the ball was landing well beyond 2 poles that I lasered at 255 and the temp was 37 degrees. I am not a high swing speed guy per say 105-108 @ 44 in but this seemed like a major upgrade to my M2D with a DI7. Can't wait to get some numbers but if I had to guess yesterday looked like 15 or so launch at 2000...

You playing it at 44”? Did you hotmelt it?

Yes, play at 44in. I did nothing to bring the sw up. Head weighed in at 194g. I had zero issue finding the center of the clubface.

Damn! That sounds C7-C9 range

Way too light for most

Yep I play at 44.5" and had to add significant hotmelt to my M3 440 to get it back to D3 swing weight with my Tour AD IZ 6x shaft.

That M4 with the IZ may be the best looking combo out there. I would have to see it against an EvenFlow Black to see how it compares. Sweet looking stick.

I was really shocked at how high it launched but the end result was undeniable. A really good strike with range balls would get me to those 255 yard poles on normal day with my M2. I had about 10 airmail the poles. When I missed it was left which is to be expected with the M4D and a lower SW.

Gave it a go today on the course and it went great. Drives were carrying about 10-12 yards longer than my average drive with my M2D. Hammerhead seems way more important than twist face. My misses were not far enough off the center to see if the tech actually made a difference. The IZ shaft is the DI with more stability, great combo.

played yesterday with the new M3 driver and M3 3HL in the bag. hit the 3w twice off the deck and both times were striped...and both left me with short chips to par 5's. the driver was awesome -- very very straight.

distance compared to the rogue is still TBD b/c of all the wind we had yesterday but, i think in no wind the M3 has it beat.

i played with the my new setup yesterday and had at two drives that i immediately said "$%&^ No!" only to find them still in play, one actually stayed in the fairway (lucky bounce) and the other was just barely in the rough.

I have a lot of rounds in with the M3 and it's bailed me out more times than I'd like to admit. I'm learning to keep my mouth shut after a bad swing:)

I like the shaft that came with my M2, just the stock Fuji pro 60 stiff, planning on getting M4 in the next day or two and just using my old shaft. Anyone see any issues with that?

I have tried several aftermarket shafts by the way, just like the stock one i guess.

If the shaft works it works. Keep hitting it

I have a few rounds in with the M3. Honestly I am SOLD on this club verse a Titleist 917D3 with Speeder tour spec that I liked a LOT?

My new problem is what shaft?

I killed it on the monitor with the Tensei White X Stiff 70. Before I got it on the course I started over thinking the X Stiff flex and ordered on the same day from Dallas Golf a Speeder 6.3 Tour Spec stiff ordered to play one inch shorter than stock.

Dang, I played both shafts for 4 or 5 holes playing as a single on a busy day so plenty of time to hit, change shafts, and hit again. I still don't know which is best for me. The stock X Stiff is a tiny bit longer and almost as good of dispersion. However I did not come close to missing a fairway with the shorter shaft and it is just easier to hit...I can get lazy with it and it is still in the fairway.

I can't go too wrong but I am thinking going with the one I can be lazy with?

I hit my buddies M3 440 this past week and man am I sold on the 440 vs. the 460. The 460 was good for me, but the 440 just took it to a different level. Can't wait to get one.

Played away today at Ballamor GC in NJ since we are still under snow. The M3 w/Tour AD IZ was awesome. Greens were aerated and sanded this week and I shot 2 over 74 with 3 three putts. This driver is fantastic and Twist Face tech seems to be keeping my missed drives closer to the fairway. Loving the IZ 6x as well...

After playing my m3 driver this past weekend - have to say on the 1 or 2 drives during a round u need twist face, it helps u. Otherwise the m3 is just a da*n good driver.

I can't say anything but praise with the results- it wants to go straight for me, and likes a slight cut more than a draw.

I think the matrix shafts were on hold/backorder while they were working out their ownership/sale. That's probably your issue.

I looked at the estimated ship date of a M3HL w/ 80g black tie a while back and it was showing some time in 2019, haha.

Per usual I agree 100% with Gioguy.

I have noticed a reduction in my usual miss (high toe). When I miss there, and feel it in my hands with the twisting of the shaft, I expect to look up and cringe at something drawing hard left. I've been pleasantly surprised so far to look up and see something turning over and settling on the left edge of the fairway or left rough vs. being unplayable.

Other than that - like said above it's just a really good driver. Not anything groundbreaking as far as distance, but that was never the intentions or selling point. It's definitely not losing yards to anything on the market.

One thing I will say is Tensei White 70X and Tensei Pro White 70TX don't belong in the same family. Totally different shaft, feel, and performance for me.

i'll be the first one to say -- i really didn't expect it to help that much -- and honestly on the whole it doesn't do that much more than bulge and roll -- except those instances you need it. which, even subconsciously is tough to get over. it will take a few rounds or more to get used to the 'misses' -- but, as long as they continue to be a POSITIVE result, i can't complain lol

i know already that it is longer than the Rogue SZ for me -- definitely straighter. further, it's as long as the G400 (non-lst/non-max) - which, would still be my gamer driver if i could ever trust it wouldnt' crack on me.

Loving my M3 w/ Tour AD IZ 6x so much I ordered the three wood and hybrid as well. I got the regular 3w (not high launch) with Tour AD IZ 6X and the M3 4 hybrid (21*) with Tour AD DI Hybrid 85x. They don't appear to be back-ordered so should receive them relatively soon. Will probably tune the hybrid to 22, but we'll see...
