I’d have to imagine when the coach finds out about the theft the kid will no longer be on the school team anymore. Don’t you need to have good grades and be an upstanding citizen to be on school teams?

 

Who knows anymore? Coaches hands might be tied. You know we don’t want to hurt any feelings.

I do know a kid tried something like this with tour Cameron’s in my area like 6-7 years ago (he just took money, never sent putters), he is fuct to this day. Still holding a felony (10 years), uses a fake name in all the automotive forums (was a small world when someone mentioned and I recocknized his real name from golf sites), and also lost a “supposed” golf scholarship. Was actually pretty good from what I heard.

 

Anyhow, I said my piece earlier. Internet apology means nothing. Means you were basically about to get caught so we’re grasping for straws or pxlsticks....he knew what he was doing, and without the walls closing in, the next most vulnerable would have got nailed. No sympathy. Needs to pay as this is a cheap shot theft. Internet theft is weak...just so no balls crime and sneaky. Bothers me anyone who thinks he’s “such a big man “ coming out apologizing. He’s a clown who had no choice but to go this route.

I`m not saying emailing the coach was right or wrong, but maybe some kids may respect their coaches more so than their parents. Sometimes coaches and teachers can be more like friends to some kids.Maybe homelife isn`t so great and the kid relies on a coach or a teacher for support and advice. Maybe PixlPutterman had the same thought?

 

Clearly the kid said he didn`t hear from the coach as of the time he came forward, so my above blabbering was not true here.

 

When I spoke with him via PM today, he was VERY concerned with this effecting being on the team. Maybe the coach didn't need to reach out, just the threat of it helped?

When I saw the title of the show I thought it might be the story of a trade or sale that went bad on some fictional website involving, say, tennis equipment. : )

Back when I was growing up first they would have used the "heat for the seat" paddle. Then a few threats of shipping me off to "military school". Then take away the car. Did the "kid" actually trade and ship the Callaway irons? Because in his post it just says that he said that he had something to trade, and not whether he actually shipped them out to the third party.

 

I won't comment on what I would do in the situation. I just hope everything turns out okay for everyone. Hopefully the "kid" learns that deception and theft lead only to pain and negative consequences and decides never to do anything like this again.

 

I think 300 hours of community service would be a good start.

All kidding aside I met a guy who got his first DUI not long ago who got 300 hours, paid a fine and suspended license. He had done no damage and was lucky in that he basically just had left the bar or so he said. So, based on that and given what Jr did here I think 300 hours would indeed make for a nice start. Reading this entire thread and the kid's replies, especially the one all about trading the clubs that didn't belong to him, I am left with the impression that Q did indeed go into this whole thing with a plan and the only thing he didn't plan for was getting caught and having his real world life collide with his online thieving persona.
