Did you two agree on what a "timely manner" means? i.e. how much longer this guy is going to wait on either receiving money or his clubs? Also, when was money the lone benefit of the bargain that Jon desired when entering into this deal? Why not send back the Miura's that you two initially agreed upon, throw in a couple hundred dollars for your stupidity and end this?

You stole a guys clubs, ignored and blocked him when he tried to deal with you to resolve the issue and you only came clean and tried to figure it out after 3rd parties contacted your parents and/or golf coach. That goes way beyond making an extremely poor decision of two. I genuinely hope the cops are called on you but I doubt that is going to happen.

I’d have to imagine when the coach finds out about the theft the kid will no longer be on the school team anymore. Don’t you have to have good grades and be an upstanding citizen to be on school teams?

 

Pretty sure a felony would sort of put a damper on being a team member.

 

Unless, and this is purely for entertainment purposes and for the sake of lightening things up a little - what if the coach is actually not only aware but has all of the team members doing it? His own used club chop shop as it were.

Kids parents and law enforcement need to be involved, several serious offenses have taken place. Paying off someone where a crime has been committed is what is wrong with society. So what does "making it right" constitute in this case?

 

Did the "kid" actually trade and ship the Callaway irons? Because in his post it just says that he said that he had something to trade, and not whether he actually shipped them out to the third party.

 

I won't comment on what I would do in the situation. I just hope everything turns out okay for everyone. Hopefully the "kid" learns that deception and theft lead only to pain and negative consequences and decides never to do anything like this again.

But, your story sucks. You haven't done the right thing one single time throughout this episode. You have to understand why folks here are not giving you the benefit of the doubt, right? Prove everyone wrong and close this one up the right way, and stop posting updates like you're proud you're finally doing the proper thing rather than being a straight up thief. Then count your lucky stars that the guy you screwed over doesn't want to watch you spend your college years rotting in a jail cell. Because, from the sounds of things, you could have just as easily lucked into one of those guys as well, based on posts in this thread.

For what it's worth I will say this at least the kid is on here trying to talk about the situation. It's far too easy for everybody to just disappear after they screw up. I know I made my fair share of mistakes when I was younger and I'm a better person because of the people who walked me through my mistakes instead of trying to crucify me every chance they got.

I don't understand this logic at all. You can try to spin this into a mistake on his part of being young, but the second he blocked the seller after agreeing to return, then attempting to trade them away is far from making a "mistake". He knew what he was doing and thought he was smarter than the seller. He is only now remorseful after he was outed, if this wouldn't have been an issue this kid would be laughing about how he got away with all of this.

Seriously kid, cut the crap. Your story has changed, you never mentioned unloading the OPs irons in your first attempt to "come clean". You still never apologized for your original heist either.

 

It's pretty clear at this point that you never intended to send your Miuras and never intended to return the OPs irons. You didn't "make an extremely poor decision", no one was encouraging you to sell stolen goods. You knowingly and willing committed multiple crimes (felonies depending on the state) under the false premise that you somehow don't have to play by the same rules as everyone else.
