My story has been consistent. I agreed to trade, didn't send my side (set of Miura's) then when asked by another person if I had anything else to trade I made an extremely poor decision and traded something that was and is not mine, jons clubs. I'm doing everything I can to make it right with jon

Quentin,

I hope you've learned a valuable lesson here.

Do yourself a favor and don't reply to this thread anymore. There is ZERO upside for you.

Just fix the deal with the OP to his satisfaction and let him come back and tell the story.

Most who are in any way empathetic towards you won't post/reply. And all the others, no doubt all of whom have never made a mistake in their lives, are just baiting you to get yourself in deeper.

For what it's worth I will say this at least the kid is on here trying to talk about the situation. It's far too easy for everybody to just disappear after they screw up. I know I made my fair share of mistakes when I was younger and I'm a better person because of the people who walked me through my mistakes instead of trying to crucify me every chance they got.

After he tried to hide in every way possible and got to the point of a cornered rat.

Just trying to weasel his way out of it.

If the kid really feels bad and wants to make it right he would give OP his clubs back and his miuras just for the trouble.

BOOM!!! Seems fair to me.

Send the OP the whole lot, then unregister your account.

If I was OP I would never be able to use either set again.

The kid needs to be punished but to ruin someones life, whether they deserve it or not, is not a small thing.

Everyone forgets he also modified the clubs trying to hide their original owner/configuration.

Just like painting and changing serial numbers on a stolen car.

Probably his next step down the road to prison.

That and his other actions speaks a lot on how he thinks or doesn't think.

Being a criminal is bad enough but being a stupid criminal is not a good life choice.

If he gets off this time it appears to me he is the type to keep going.

Everyone deserves a chance but that should be left up to those in the know.

Maybe he has already had them.

My parents are not paying for any of this. I'm righting it with jon regardless of whether anyone on here believes me or not. I messed up and I'm fixing it. I have a job and I'll use my own money to right the situation that I created by not being honest with jon, and not sending his clubs back in a timely manner and trading them away even though they were not mine. I understand people are upset and I would be also if I were in Jon's position. I made my full name my username because I've always done the right thing, I didn't need to worry about what would happen if I was caught "scamming" someone. I've bought quite a few things to ty out in the last year, honestly and straight up. I had a lapse in judgement big time and I understand I won't be welcomed on GolfWRX in the future and that's my fault.

You may want to remove your ebay id from your signature.

Shut her down I guess.......

At this point, does it matter? Why remove the eBay ID? We should all be able to block him there too.

Blah blah blah why would it take so long to make it right. Just do it and quit bullsh*tting around

Im not sure why you put scamming in quotations, some how insinuating that is not what you did.

You committed crime, you stole from someone and then sold stolen property. You can try to talk your way out of it and sugar coat it to make it seem like you weren't being a scumbag, but the facts are pretty clear. You should have taken nsxguy's advice and kept your mouth shut, paid off the OP, and hoped this would quietly go away. Continuing to post like you are somehow a noble person and just "made a mistake" isn't fooling anyone.

I wonder if it's the kid in this video, he's even a lefty, current sophomore at Dana Hills High School maybe? I can see a kid pulling a scam like this, maybe the person who uploaded the below video needs to receive a message...

Yes. That is him. He sent me a video of him using the Prototypes at a driving range after he received them from me.

What? He sent you a video of himself using the irons you sent him? I am at a loss for words.

That's the cherry on top. Kid nabs your sticks and bupkis on shipping his side, then rubs it in by posting videos hitting your sticks. Kid's got stones

After this, he should be "stoneless"!!!!! DAMN

I’m sorry but you have got to be the dumbest person I’ve ever seen post on this site. You make a trade via the internet, you then don’t send your clubs back to the person who sent you his clubs, then you sent him a video using HIS clubs, then You proceeded to sell BOTH sets and leave OP with nothing? You scammed the hell out of him and you’re lucky he’s a patient person. If it was me you’d be in jail already.

I hope you never hit another fairway or green in your life and all you putts come up short.

Very happy for OP and all the WRX’ers who grew up knowing right from wrong, and if ever did step out of line knew and still know we didn’t have “the web” to send apologies. Was something done face to face. Much tougher than from behind a keyboard. That’s why I can’t respect an apology done from behind so much safety glass. Granted 25 years ago, we wouldn’t have been able to come together and figure out from our phone or while sitting on couch. 25 years ago+ someone may show up on your doorstep. Either way hope everything is sorted out for OP, and because he wasn’t prosecuted for serious crimes, hope Q focuses on “writing all his other wrongs” as I’m sure this wasn’t it. Let’s just hope he realizes damage done and hope this is his last chance at taking advantage of someone in any way

Wow a lot of googling for Quentin w hill.

I didnt even have to finish typing it in the search bar.

I almost am starting to feel sorry for the little sob.

Almost

It is so strange. Trying to do this and use his real name for his Username.

Must be more going on than we know.

Wow did you check out his high school. Nicer than most universities I have visited.

Nice picture of him as well

Quentin,

That wasn't a lapse in judgement big time. That was complete disregard for someone else's property. It wasn't hugging the line between right and wrong - it was just WRONG. Stop trying to defend yourself. You also lose the right to say "I always do the right thing" because you obviously do not. If your conscience allowed you to outright LIE and SCAM the owner of the clubs like this that easily, then I would venture to say that this was not your first go around with NOT doing the right thing. Some advice: stop posting on here. You aren't doing yourself any favors.

Plain and simple you’re a low life thief. You’re trying to make it right in hopes to escape consequences. If it were me I’d hammer you as much as legally possible.

I just emailed the golf coach, lets see if he is of any help

Don't know if this is what prompted action but thanks! Of course, this is my opinion and not that of the company which I volunteer for. Kudos!

This is what drives me crazy!!

Over the years I've seen multiple people get banned from this site for "taking matters into their own hands"...when they had no business doing so.

...and yet our Mods take the position (personal or otherwise) that all is well in this case.

I know GX monitors this forum every now and then...and he can likely comment on the number of members that have caught bans for doing this.

Hell...Thug Hunter and Albatrosser are the first (2) that come to my mind...and there are several more.

At least be consistent in the messaging to your Members.

I personally didn’t see the reasoning in contacting the coach. He’s just the coach, not a parent. But that’s really irrelevant now. And it actually may have helped.

What I’m wondering is how deep this could get. This doesn’t sound like a one time deal. Blocking the OP’s number, then moving (or trying to) clubs he knew weren’t his. I have to wonder if this is the first time? He built in a time delay with the switching of shafts. No money involved, so no PayPal. A lot of things working in his favor to get away with it.

The reason you let the coach know is because golf is a gentleman's game. It's a game based upon honor. It's a game where you are your own referee. Someone who is likely to scam someone online is the same person likely to miscount his triple, drop a ball on the edge of the woods in a match and say "found it", try to call a penalty on someone that really isn't, and on and on and on. I don't coach golf but I used to coach High school Hockey and if one of my players was scamming people online I'd want to know about it.

You all seem to remember we are talking about a 15 year old kid, not an adult. This is someone who might view his golf coach in higher regard than his parents, and in that case the golf coach could have an honest conversation with the kid and perhaps straighten him out.

The point in posing in here is to alert the golf/golfwrx community that someone is dishonest. I don't see how this dishonesty is limited to the golfwrx.com website and strictly his parents. And then you have people saying to contact LEO but leave the golf coach out of it? The logic some lack is laughable.

Fair points.

But if I’m the coach, what exactly am I supposed to do with that information?

Do I bench him, do I cut him, do I punish him? All based on an anonymous email from someone you don’t know, from an internet message board?

That’s a big part of the problem anymore, too much of that responsibility is being dumped on teachers and coachs. Except they don’t have any authority to do anything about it. Did you see the neighborhood the kids lives on? Think mom and dad don’t have an attorney on speed dial. Hands are basically tied now.

The repercussions of this thief's action will haunt him for the rest of his life. Imagine if he has aspirations to become a golf professional or pursue a political career?

There is a Teaching moment here for many but the fact that this Thief's parents are wealthy and live in a large home has zero bearing on whether or not the local community he lives in should not be warned of his criminal behavior. The Golf Coach should be in the loop in my opinion as well as the parents.

I'd put it into the hands of LEO, and once you get your stuff back, let this kid, and his parents, deal with the fallout. If the police want to have charges dropped, that is a call to be made in the future. But, allowing this to go on without any "legal" entities getting involved will only teach this kid how to get away with things....he gets a free set of clubs and an education on how to scam. Do it with LEO involved, you will get your clubs back, and this kid will get a lesson of another kind...and, hopefully, will put an and to his scheming.

Good luck!

I agree if this kid scammed thousands of dollars from many other people, but in general is doesn’t necessarily require immediate escalation to LE. He’s a minor, so LE often doesn’t even actively pursue it.

Taking it to the kid's parents might be enough, because we don’t actually know how far down this path the kid has gone.

People trading should put in their own safeguards.

What’s scary about the Internet is no one knows anything about this kid, except what he tells you on the Internet… No one knows if this is his first time or third time if he doesn’t suffer consequences criminally this is a slap on the wrist via the Internet from members of a golf forum. We have no idea what he’s doing if he doesn’t have any criminal charges filed against him that is the scary part anyone who trusts the words that come out of his mouth are very easy to manipulate… You have to look at it as he will obviously say anything to keep himself from getting charges pressed against him, and not knowing his criminal history this could be the time that puts him in jail or the time that stops him from ever doing it again I don’t believe apology is suffice to what he did to the OP he carried out multiple criminal activities and should have to suffer the consequences just like anyone else would.
