I unsubbed from Mark a while ago. I dont care at all about what happened between him and TM to be honest, it was the nonstop crybaby stuff. Just...enough already. I get it. I watched other vlogs that talked about TM not sending a lot of folks free tester clubs anymore. But I didnt then hear about it for days and weeks and months. Move on.

That’s why I looked, from memory he did a video at TM for the SLDR. So something happened between then and the 2016 M range.

To be honest it's much ado about nothing. Nike spat the dummy when they released the first generation Vapor drivers and Crossfield gave them average reviews based on the looks and performance. This was controversial at the time because the other reviewers waxed lyrical about how great they were but even Steve Buzza, who gets it out there 270, couldn't get great numbers from them.

 

Then when the Vapor fly range came out there was a lot of anticipation as to what he would say and it was perfectly fine. It was almost as if he was trying to build bridges with them.

 

I get the same vibe from this video. TM reached out to him after the P730 review to see if he would bag them as he raved about them. Crossfield then signed with Titleist which ticked them off. They reacted poorly, he reacted poorly and instead of going to town on them he basically said it's an ok club.

 

The fact his average distance with M4 was down 9 yards wasn't mentioned (it was the same drop that saw him slate the Vapor drivers) the way I thought it would be - he said he was tired - even though others in testing have noticed less than optimal carry.

 

No comment on the grips, shafts, not too much on twist face. He seemed to be really neutral about it and I think it was an effort to get back on side with TM.

 

His reviews are sliding into nothingness now, again partially because of his sponsorship deal, he can't say as much as he'd like.

 

Be interesting to see what happens next driver release, see if he gets TM clubs or not.

I think these may be Dan Hendriksens clubs I doubt they'd have sent Mark anything but im not sure, remember Dans brother is sponsored by TM hehehe :)

I think the issue happened around the time of the 'loft-up' campaign with the SLDR. He was a little too honest with his thoughts about their marketing, and it rubbed someone at TM the wrong way.

 

It happens. It's clearly wasn't the end of the world for him or TM.

 

He has been very complimentary of many TM products along the way. Check out his review on the P770 irons (that nobody else seemed to like). He loved them.

 

Aside from one childish rant on not being involved with the M3/M4, he has been an asset to people looking for unbiased information on clubs.

That's my point. Titleist gets sh*t for basically coming out with drivers that are very similar to past models, which is what TM has done and recently Callaway. The difference is marketing (obviously), Titleist doesn't do it, TM/Cally do - but they are both doing the same exact things just marketed way differently. Never been a fan of Crossfield or Shiels at all, liked this post though, seemed to be very factual. The last review I want to read is from a "professional vlogger" getting sent free stuff.

I just don't get why TM gets a free pass to take their ball and go home because Mark takes offense to their ridiculous marketing claims and voices it, yet somehow he's the crybaby...LOL. To me, he wasn't as much complaining about TM not giving him product as much as he was exposing the fact that they do not take well to any kind of criticism. He can obviously give a decent review without further bashing them, TM just looks like a bunch of wannabe elitists from all this. Ironic to me.

I guess I don't see where Crossfield is not independent. Yes, Titleist is paying him money. He says he will still give independent and honest reviews.

There was also a little bad blood because Titleist beat Taylormade in signing Crossfield. At least that was hinted on. We may never know the whole story. But who cares? Either you like him, and watch, or you hate him, don't watch, and continue to complain about him.

 

I don't believe that for one second. Taylormade had issues with Crossfield before the Titleist signing. No way were they trying to sign him to a deal.

From his original TM rant video he said he was still going to perform TM reviews - he would just have to purchase them himself in order to do so.

 

I thought the M4 review was really honest and, as usual, he finished off by essentially saying that the driver may or may not help your game and that you should get fitted.

 

Maybe this is a little off but as I see it TM is missing a fairly big opportunity at some free marketing. There are people out there who watch and respect Mark's reviews and the fact that he has to purchase their clubs to review them is a bit of a put off to some. Almost like they are somehow afraid of his reviews and I can't for the life of me figure out why.

 

And for those who will, no doubt, say it's because he signed with Titleist I say BS. He gave an open and honest review of the Rogue post signing. And also some other equipment. I've been watching his reviews for about 4 years and I don't see any differences now versus prior to signing. Titleist apparently told him to continue doing what he was doing. So how, in any way, does it make sense for TM to now allow a major reviewer on YT to tell it like it is about their products? Reminds me of Bombtech not wanting to send a driver to Shiels. He still managed to get his hands on one and the review wasn't all that terrible - but made them look sort of bad because they didn't want to allow the review in the first place. Left asking what it was they were worried about.

I think all brands make ridiculous claims. Mark was very insulting about TM some time ago and very juvenile with it. Thats why he didnt get the first launch invite. He then posted videos sulking about no invite. Then more videos threatening and quoting business e mails. Then the totally juvenile invisible club video. TM arent scared of him, they just dont want to deal with him. I cant blame them.

MC tries to give an honest opinion in all his reviews, all of them have the same message - go and get fit. He has 250k followers which is a massive captive audience for golf manufacturers, so you can understand why Titleist went after him (his new videos with Titleist are all about getting fit). TM didn't like the fact that MC thought most of there tech was too gimmicky, too much marketing and he probably wouldn't tow the corporate line which people like Me and My golf do very well... its just not his thing.

And then, he gets his hands on their product, because it’s easy to do, and reviews it accordingly. The same type of review he would do for any other club. Thorough, straight forward, honest review. He posted the other m1 review to air out his grievances, get some views and ultimately to profit. You do know that right? More views on his video equals more money.

 

Now, as it stands, between him and all the other golf you tubers and reviewers, Crossfield is the only one to watch in my mind. He is straight up and doesn’t hold back. Not only that but, the man is completely stocked up on titleist and they still could take his little Ping rinky dink out of the bag because titleist club can’t match.

 

TM was dumb for doing what they did. They know the views he accumulates online. It’s advertising. Mark would have reviewed the club and no matter how good or bad the review was, it was an advertisement and in this case, it would’ve been a good one because Mark actually liked the club.

When was he offensive to TM some time ago? They started playing silly buggers when Mark, through measuring, realised high launch low spin drivers could be destructive for those not hiring the sweet spot all the time. He started pointing it out and then they started sidelining him.

Their Tour Soft ads seem to attempt to compare the feel of the Tour Soft to the ChromeSoft and TP5s and one other ball. They flash these "graphs" that to Joe Public is intended to say woah, look how soft this ball is, its softer than these big name balls - because, GRAPHS!! Comparing a low compression 2 piece ball to a 4 and 5 piece tour ball...what a joke. Sorry but I really hate that commercial.

So you just disagree in principle with any claim that "our product X is better than their product Z".
