impressive job by bk, winning on last year's set up and this year's set up ...

Wasn't Miller complaining last year about him winning when it wasn't really a us open test

Like how often does that idiot eat his words

Yes that and Thomas could only shoot a 63 because the course was easy and not nearly as hard as johnny’s 63... well, uh. Fleetwood just threw up a 63 on Sunday....so what’s johnnys new excuse gonna be?

I can’t stand miller

I said on Friday when everybody was ready to crown DJ that he has a Tom Weiskopf / Greg Norman snake-bitten element to him...

Can’t say why but it’s there...

DJ is unequivocally one of, if not the most talented golfer on earth yet has 1 major to show for it...he should have 4 or 5....maybe 6

Not saying he won’t win again but, like i said Friday in this thread, he has heretonow been somewhat snakebitten in big moments...

I guess I will see everyone again at Carnoustie. These tournaments in between look boring. Cromwell, snooooze.

any golf is good golf

there's the spirit. After all posting Tournaments as snoooze on a golf lovers web site is akin to being unable to get aroused on porn site

Pretty much focus on the majors and tournaments I enjoy these days. Never really cared much for the late June/July swing.

I was hoping for a PReed win to keep the Slam alive, but kudos to Koepke on the win.

I was rooting more for 3 or 4 others on the leaderboard over him in all truth. Cannot get excited about the muscle-man bombers. Much prefer a Fleetwood type or a Reed who is a little bit thick in the middle as opposed to the sculpted iron-pumpers who seem thick between the ears.

there has been more than one statistical analysis of his round that day, and it is usually ranked the greatest round ever ... if the argument is he toots his own horn too often, that's a different discussion ... but his 63 is much better than jt's or tommy's ...

In the end this was a major that I really enjoyed watching. I enjoyed the tournament for the side show it was on Saturday and the result that followed. The USGA let the course get away from them creating a situation where I feel some players were unfairly removed from contention and others were brought back into contention due to incredible play and plenty of help from the USGA and the weather.

Finau and Berger played flat out incredible rounds early on Saturday and then got to benefit from the USGA’s inability to properly set up a golf course that can sustain playability throughout a range of weather conditions relative to the area.

Brooks and Dustin honestly played incredible just to be in the position that they were come Saturday night.

I don’t want to take anything away from Brooks because he’s an incredible talent and a very deserving Champion of the 2018 US Open but the Championship has a bit of a black eye to me because of Saturday.

I enjoyed the tournament. I couldn’t look away to be honest but I think the USGA botched it. I didn’t mind Erin Hills as I think they did what they could with the weather and these guys are just flat out good when they get soft conditions. I think it’s time that the USGA accepts the fact that these guys are the best in the world and trying to make them a course that gives you an Even Par winner is too risky because you can end up losing control of the the course.

Yeah, especially considering Hartford is one of the most fun, laid back tournaments of the year. Let's not start hating on Hartford here!

That tournament wasn’t fun even when Sammy Davis was hosting. If you had ever gone in the 80’s you would know. It looked like a cow pasture with green spots. You couldn’t get anything to ear or drink unless you first bought those fair tickets you can never use completely. They had 2-3 stations max. Then you had to find the concessions, which were not strategically located. I’m sure it’s grown in now but it was not a fun experience back then. Not only that, Hartford is not the most exciting town either.

Agreed. It will take a sub-60 round on a longer layout, to win, with more wind, and faster greens, with the old clubs, with the old ball, to ever even match the 63 at Oakmont. Maybe not even then. Until then, that was an all-time US Open final round by Fleetwood. Amazing.

Great tournament. Great winner. Great course. Unless you’re a beta male how could you ask for more?

I realized with five holes to go that a) Koepka was the presumptive winner and b) I had long since ceased to care one way or the other.

Spent the rest of the day catching up on reruns of The Expanse.

Hes not snakebitten, its all self inflicted. he sees hes leaving every putt short for 25+ holes and doesnt adjust. Brooks hit his must make putts with purpose. His club selections on 13-14 and 17 killed him. 13 was a terrible wedge hit really tentatively. no reason hes outside 15 feet. 14 he needs to gamble and hit if not driver at least 3 wood. Koepka hit driver and still got up and down when missing to the right.DJ has to hit 3 iron and 3 jack. 17 was pathetic. no reason to be that short. youre down by 2 just go at the pin or 10 feet right... its an 8 iron for petes sake. no courage shown down the stretch.very disappointing

Don't think I really agree. He didn't wax the field any more than Fleetwood did today. 2 strokes to nearest competitor, and another good distance to everyone else. Similar as JT, but JT was on Saturday.

Basically, if Fleetwoods would have resulted in a win it would have been a comparable feat IMO.

11 was the decider. Both got a 4 from where they hit their tee shot.

No, just that the ordeal of sitting through yesterday’s absurdity wore out my rather limited ability to muster interest in televised golf.

If I could do it over again I’d have skipped Saturday and probably watched today’s entire round.

It was all just too much. Tiger being “in the mix” would have just made the Fox commentary and coverage more tedious.

Brooks won from the wrong side of Saturday's conditons. How in the world could anything be taken away from him? He was superb. At Erin Hills he was transcendent. His game is well put together and he showed moxie today. Three for at Pebble?
