In hand photos of the Ping i500 irons (MERGED)

Any idea what the headweight is without the toe screw please. Swingweight has been a big issue for me and I'm hoping this system will allow them more scope to accommodate longer clubs

 

Was thinking about the weighting issue as well. With no tuning port to adjust weights how will they do it with these? Obviously if they are hollow hot melt to add weight, but how do you go lower? Perhaps they have different weighted screws?? “Standard” screw is like 8 grams but you can go down to 2 gram. That would allow a 3 SW point drop, or 1/2 inch over at no SW increase.

They do look nice. Not crazy about the lower toe area bulging out a bit.

 

Basically a PXG 0311T fighter I guess. No magic goo inside though. Too bad.

 

They will offer a variety of different weighted screws for tuning.

I thought that I read somewhere on this site that Ping is injecting a substance into all of the heads to improve both sound and distance. Ping is calling it "Speed Air". It's the magical air from Arizona. The best part is that it doesn't affect the swing weight of clubs. :taunt:

Maybe something to consider.

Matt Wallace won with that setup on European tour last week....after seeing pics however, I'm wondering if there will be a need to combo them...gives me the impression these are more inline with 0311T irons from pxg than they are 790s....more to come I guess

Looks great. A little too small heel to toe for me as I'd need a little more forgiveness than that. Definitely great looking though.

 

I don’t own a magic “eyeball micrometer”, but I’d say pretty confidently that they are SIGNIFICANTLY progressively sized from heel to toe.

 

That long iron is far longer from heel to toe than that short iron. I personally like this design. Compact scoring clubs and more forgiving larger blades on the long irons.

 

These do look like a winner. Very sleek and minimalist, but Still “Pingy”.

Ping is really close to being on top of the Golf mountain . The last frountier for Ping is TRUE FORGED FEEL . I am not a scientist or engineer however I do know it is hard to get that thick low frequency smushy Forged marshmellowy butter feel with a hollow head . That being said this club is stamped with forged however due to the hollow design it’s only kinda Forged . It looks awesome! I wonder if possible patent issues stoped them from filling it with a substance .

love the "clean" look....and as others said above, I hope they perform as good as they look

If the toe screw is the same as in my G700's then they are1g.

 

Ping said they would swing weight for $12.75/club but were not clear on if it was just replacing the toe screw and I did not ask further.

I wouldn't have thought so. I think these are designed as a players G700, something to blend with the iBlade or i210 for those wanting a bit more ball-speed with the longer irons (or just a complete set). Funny as those with blended sets will have muscle-back looking long irons and cavity short irons.

 

These are hands-down the nicest Ping irons I've seen, it's just a shame that they look so prone to bag chatter.

I was just about to use the eBay 15% off to troll for another set of irons... might now not do that :)

 

I checked Matt Wallace's Twitter/Instagram for pics to see what they might look like against the iBlades but didn't see anything.

If they are 0311T sized, they would be good without comboing.
