G400 driver replacement in January

They went backwards with this release.. hands down the G400 is a much better looking club with a much better color way.. the black / copper looked awesome. But that’s me judging the bottom of it. If it does perform better then the g400 then maybe I would consider it as an option but I’m in love with my g400 LST

Backwards? You can tell that from a minimal pic of the bottom?

I was thinking the same thing....how can you make any judgement call on a view of not even half of the sole of the club? I’ve seen the entire thing and I can assure you, it’s absolutely stunning.

I am looking forward to this club.

Some people are just adverse to red colorways. Whether it is a red accent on a scotty putter, a red porche, or a red sweater.

Lot’s of opininions on driver names and colors during pre-release season. After the epic driver release, it seems that the marketers are trolling this forum with release pics and information (in a good way).

I finally found a G400 combo that works great for me. The LST 10 deg with the Ping Tour X shaft. Man I love that setup. I could really go after it without worrying about a hook and the dispersion was TIGHT. Swingspeed avg was 111, carry avg 275, avg total was about 298-299 with 2400 backspin (with practice balls. I usually see higher speeds/more carry etc with my TP5X so I will bring one to the shootout tomorrow). Very forgiving, straight and long. $299 + $35 shaft upcharge....hmmmm. Going to have a shootout tomorrow with my TS2. I'm sure the 410 will be amazing, but I really love the LST head the most and it sounds like that may come later in the year for the 410. Plus, I really don't want to spend another $500 for a driver right now.

Is it true that a golfer with a swing speed in the mid nineties should not consider a g400 LST model ? I have an elderly acquaintance that needs to know. This particular gentleman, using a g driver with ad-di stiff has ballspeed in low 140's and launch angle around 13 and spin around 3000. Assuming he consistently makes good contact, would a max be better than g400 LST. I was told that if you don't have clubhead speed over 100 mph, that you shouldn't be considering LST...?

I’d say you should go ahead and give it a shot for yourself. Imo ss is only a small factor in whether or not it will work for you, it also comes down to angle of attack and swing path, there are just so many variables

Found this on facebook tonight, not sure if it has been seen yet.

Good find.

I’m continually amazed at how some people can’t take a photo. Those M5/6 pics look like they were taken on the worlds first camera phone and cropped out part of the clubhead. Same again here.

Manufacturers leak partial photos as they see fit. Just enough to keep interest high. And Ping hit the nail on the head with this first leaked photo. Not too much, not too little. Just enough to spur on conversation and keep it relevant.

Angle of attack and swing consistency will be more of a factor. It’s true that it’s generally done well for higher speed players, but that’s because they are usually generating more spin with their chs and that is where the lst does its job in reducing.

Lower chs can still benefit, but it is less forgiving than the max or regular models so they should still be a decent ball striker. Too low of spin can be just as difficult to control as too much and moon balls.

Well, I made the switch from TS2 to G400 LST today and I'm super happy with it. Added bonus, my Edwin Watts has a 90 day guarantee so if the 410 or Flash or Mizuno comes out and just blows this away somehow (seems doubtful) I could get full credit towards one of them. I love this thing - straight, long, forgiving with a great trajectory for me. Ended up being about 4-6 mph faster ball speed than the TS2 on the best shots. Avg swingspeed was up from 110 with the TS2 to 112 with the G400. Fastest was 114, slowest was 110. TS2 total avg yards was 290, G400 LST total avg was 303. Ballspeed was about 160 TS2 and 165-166 G400. On the course today I was very happy and probably a club less into most greens even though it was about 56 degrees out.

Yes in MY opinion I’ve seen enough to determine it looks cheap like a Kmart brand driver from the bottom.. why would looking at the crown differ my opinion on the bottom/sole of the club? Yes seeing the sole of the club I can make a judgment of what I see

And there you have it. Personally, I like to see the entire club before I would put it on the “no hit” list. To each his own...

Looks like I might get to pick up a g400 LST on the cheap then. Never hit one.

You will not regret it. There isn’t a better player’s driver on the market.

Good. Nothing wrong with pink.

To everyone writing it off after seeing the sole of a preproduction club, too bad for you. I get when people don’t like clubs because of how they look at address, but because of what’s on the sole, something you can’t see when hitting or addressing the ball? I don’t get it.
