The area your driver cracked is a more common area for the head to fair. Out of the almost 20 years in the golf industry I have only seen Ping drivers fail in this spot, but its not very often. Remember this is one of the thinnest or one of the thinnest spots on the club. As long as your serial number shows a production date within the last 3 years you should get a full club replacement as long as you have the stock shaft.

The G410 fairway and hybrid are what I'm most excited about. I'm loving my G400 Max with Tour 65, but I've had a love/hate with the fairway.

That's my worry... The shaft I have is from a Max set up I bought about a year ago, HZRDUS yellow 76 6.0, I sold that head and went back to the regular G400 head with this shaft. I don't need a full replacement, really would just like to get the head replaced. I can see how this would be the spot that fails, it makes sense and I realize things happen. I'm not questioning Pings QC at all, just hoping they help me out as there is no other brand driver I would want to play right now... Even if I have to buy a new one, it'll be the Max or the same head, that obviously isn't the ideal scenario though.

I replaced the head only and didn't give them the shaft. Just did a head swap at EW. Ping sent EW a new replacement head. All real easy!

It’s been a while since the “what do we know so far” was reviewed:

G410 is coming in Jan/Feb 2019 with LS model in May

G400 Max remains current until July/Aug 2019 at a lower price point

G410 lofts 9, 10.5 and 12*

Higher MOI than G400

Black with Red accents colorway

455cc

Has 3 weight ports (back, heel, toe) and not a sliding weight.

New adapter allows for up to +/- 1.5°, as well as having a flatter lie angle setting.

Turbulators still there.

Crown is different without the dragonfly on the top but a "ridge-turbulator" on each side going to the back end.

waiting until may for LS is rough. May have to go epic flash SZ then. not interested in std version. I hit the max but it spins too much for me. t1100 white with sz 10.5 sounds perfect

Ugh, sucks they are changing the adapter. I have like 20 shafts lying around that will be useless if I upgrade.

You could always change the tips.

If you're just getting it re-tipped, it might just be worth the cash to re-tip it yourself. Probably $30-ish.

This is my issue right here... already texted with my buddy who manages the Roger Dunn near me, he said it's possible they will just replace the head and deal with Ping themselves, but he also believes Ping will stand by it.

I had two G30's that did the exact same failure. Ping was good about it but still a hassle to exchange, wait, hit it a few weeks, exchange, etc. Put me off Ping for a bit but back now. Hope to goodness this doesn't happen with my Max.

Not sure I updated here, but I did end up taking the head into my local Roger Dunn... I didn't buy the head from them and they took it and swapped it right away so I had no downtime. Ping is supposedly great about replacing them so they said they'd deal with that end. I could see how sending it back to Ping could be much more time consuming.

My G30 I gave a buddy and my G400 max are cracked in the exact same way. Just took both to PGA superstore and ping is replacing both beads. Inconvenient for sure, out my driver for a couple weeks. But at least ping is replacing both, and the G30 head is getting replaced with G400. Actually worked out better for my friend.

Ping is always slightly under TM and Cally. $499 I see. Not $599.
