Granted Phil has been awful. No denying it.

 

But it seems like so many here are focused solely on him. He’s not the only one stinking it up this afternoon.

 

And btw, even if and BD were playing ok, they would still be getting drubbed. In case no one noticed Sergio and Noreen have made five birdies.

It's been pretty bad all the way around this afternoon. But Phil was the one pick that people really questioned. After his win early this year, he's been MIA. After finishing DFL last week, that pick is really sticking out like a sore thumb.

Americans have never been much good at foursomes/alternate shot, which I feel is the purest team game you can play in golf.

 

I disagree big time. It is very hard to get into a rhythm in alternate shot and has always felt tricked up to me.

 

Every shot you hit has an effect on your partner. There is some pressure when you're in fourball and your partner is out of position but you have that pressure every single time in foursomes. A hard format but one I enjoy to watch.

 

I think Europeans are more likely to play it growing up than Americans, which helps. Have played it with my father in Father and Son competitions, you really have to know your partner's game and try to set things up nice for them. Sometimes I think the Americans play it focused on their own game too much.

 

At least in fourball you don't have to play your partners mistakes. You can't hide in foursomes.

 

Alternate shot is awesome. So much pressure. And it moves quickly too (maybe not here at the RC, but in general)

Phil is playing bad, as well as others, but I'm more upset at the fact that you benched last week's winner and the PGA Player of the year, #3 in the world...I just don't understand how you can bench Brooks, I really don't.

DJ, Brooks should be out there all 5 rounds, and depending on how Rickie, JT and Spieth played, they should be out there as well. To bench Brooks is an atrocious decision.

I have to admit that I was concerned about the Garcia pick. But he's played well so far, and obviously helped Noren, so I would like to say here that I was probably wrong.
