If Rick positively reviewed it, no one would believe him because they'd say he's biased. He can't win by reviewing it positively or negatively.

He doesn't need to "win"...Wilson does. Shiels isn't selling products...Wilson is.

People are going to tune-in and watch his reviews regardless. Have you stopped watching his reviews because your current equipment doesn't work vs. people tune-in looking for the next best thing?

Do you or I agree with every review he does...NO...but, might he persuade you try something you otherwise would not have thought about..YES!

For me, his review of the Srixon Z785 driver did exactly that. I never would have given a look at their driver or even thought about testing it, but his review intrigued me enough along with Srixon's 60-Day Gaurantee to give it a try. I would agree...it is a sneaky good driver...may not be enough to overtake my current driver, but may be good enough that I want to keep it and have it as a backup.

Yes, he DOES need to "win". Everybody does.

Nobody needs to agree with any of his reviews so long as they perceive him to be "objective", i.e. NON-aligned with the manufacturer.

If he reviews this driver positively and it flops he will be accused of shilling and his videos become irrelevant. FAIL for Rick.

If he reviews it negatively he gets no more paid gigs from ANY manufacturer. Who's going to pay someone to "trash" their product(s) ? FAIL for Rick.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it will perform.

I know it does for me. I ordered one two weeks before we knew the winner. I was hoping it would be the Cortex.

How’d you do that?

Given that Wilson had RS on hand during development, I wouldn't be surprised if his personal number were a major factor in the design process. They know they need to get it to where he can show it has equal numbers to all the big boys, and I'm sure it will.

What will be more interesting is if he gets a non-stock shaft for his fitting. I'm sure at the end of the day it'll get a standard "I love the look, and it performs" statement in the review. And he'll probably focus a good chunk of time on the excitement of being part of the development. Now if it lands in his bag for more than a month with a stock option shaft... that will be more impressive to me.

Looks like your theory was wrong ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Rick doesn't really give negative reviews, he states pretty clearly what he likes about it personally, what he doesn't like about it personally but always leaves it to the viewer to decide if they like it. He doesn't seem to try and convince anyone that a product is terrible or great, at least not usually. Its a very individual experience, what works for him might not for someone else and vice versa. He states something to that effect or alludes to it in many videos.

That all leads me to believe that it will be rare a manufacturer doesn't want him to review their product given the way he reviews them. He does it in a way that doesn't hurt either party, the manufacturer or the consumer.

Swing hard in case you hit it!

While that is usually true, there are exceptions. TM couldn't have been happy that the title for his P760 review was "ONE HUGE NEGATIVE..........NEW TM P760 REVIEW".
