Callaway epic flash? is this legit? (New Pics added Pg 1)

Can anyone confirm if the movable weights from Rogue are compatible with this head. I have some extra weights that I would like to be able to use rather than having to pick up new ones to adjust SW

After seeing your post, I just took the front weight out of my Rogue SZ and installed in in the front weight port on my Flash SZ. It fit fine.

Any idea how much the stock front weight weighs?

After listening to Ollie again, he said he’s hit 189 before with his current driver but only on a really warm day. With the Epic Flash he hit that on a 60* day. I know temperature affects carry and roll, but does it affect ball speed?

Stock Flash SZ front weight is 2 grams. It's stamped on the side of the weight once removed.

Are you seeing 2-7 mph ball speed with Flash sz over rogue sz ? Will the Flash win a spot in your bag?

I don't have a way to measure ball speed here at the course, but I've always been more old school and actually want to see how clubs hit on the course and where they put me (where shots land, distance, etc) in real world conditions. I've hit it side by side with some of my other drivers...G400 Max, Z785 to name a couple..., and I'm not seeing the ball in any real different spots than usual. It's very consistent in distance across the face, but then again, the G400 Max is too. And due to the extremely loud sound (to my ears, at least) of the Flash, I'm not sure I will be playing it much this year. Sound and feel are very important to me, and I have drivers that fit my preferences for that now.

Move the sliding weight to either side and the sound changes dramatically. Much more quiet when moved

Thank you.....follow up question....is the Rogue SZ more appealing to you in the sound/feel department then?

A bit more pleasant for me, yes. I also actually liked the Epic SZ, but I have to say that my current preference in sound/feel is more like the G400 LST or the Z785. I do hear that the new TM stuff has incredible sound/feel with the resin behind the face, and hopefully I'll get to see and maybe hit that in the next week or so.

Added...Don't get me wrong, the Flash seems to have good performance in the bit that I've hit it. But I'm very picky about the sound/feel of my clubs.

So am i....jpx900 for example did EVERYTHING right....but the noise and color(continental I know) just threw me off... M3 is filling the spot on address position, flight and sound..... Z785, eh?

From what I've heard the reason they are able to get (claim anyway) ball speed increases is that they have found a way to get around the way the USGA test CT. They clamp the head and then test the face, it doesn't really test the head as a whole.

That could just be marketing BS, but sounds somewhat plausible.

Don't sleep on the 785!

Sorry...back on topic.

Chris, are we talking L4V loud?

I've never hit the L4V (I am NOT a Cobra fan) to know. But, a good comparison (at least to me) that was just mentioned above is the Mizuno JPX900. I, like the poster above, got great performance out of that club when hit, but the sound was not my cup of tea.

But without sounding like I'm crapping on the club more than it seems, I think people just need to hit it for themselves to find out. My tastes and preferences might not align with everyone else's.

Didn't TG2 talk about this a few podcasts ago, the idea that many manufacturers are moving into the legally illegal driver.

Will be interested to see what the line on the crown is there for. It really feels out of place. I don't see a function of it and cosmetically looks odd.

I love the line is it reminds me of the old FT drivers! It’s obviously the seam where the face cup meets the carbon composite body. Looks great!

I'm interested to see how the masses react if it sounds like the Triton but performs better than anything else on the market.

We've only had one person comment that it was too loud for their taste. I am not too worried yet. Looking forward to some other reviews though to see if it's a reoccurring theme. But, the G30 would make your ears bleed and that was a popular driver regardless.

It’s a different sound for Callaway. But it’s no triton or L4V. Doesn’t sound horrible at all....

Plus the sound is gone in a Flash...

Haha, I see what you did there...

In case any of you drank too much this Saturday evening and need something nauseating to help purge the system, I'll repost this picture.

That looks extremely stretched back....maybe the angle

Yep, I’ve seen it in person and this picture makes it look way different. The lighting isn’t great and it doesn’t look nearly as long front to back in real life.

As long as it performs it won’t matter, but if it’s nothing special they won’t be able to sell that abomination. And go Bears!

I'm all about going against the Packers, but let's be reasonable.

I tend to prefer a muted thwack with a driver. I had my Epic hot melted, and it sounds like a persimmon wood driver. If the Flash truly performs, then hotmelt can take care of the sound very easily. Sound is very important to me as well, but that is an easy issue to remedy, if necessary.
