Can anyone confirm if the movable weights from Rogue are compatible with this head. I have some extra weights that I would like to be able to use rather than having to pick up new ones to adjust SW

After seeing your post, I just took the front weight out of my Rogue SZ and installed in in the front weight port on my Flash SZ. It fit fine.

I’m looking forward to finding out which of the new drivers comes out the most playable for me.

Well, I was right, they are going full the “Flash” with the marketing. Only thing preventing them from downright copying the TV show or movie is that they won’t use red since that’s synonymous with TaylorMade.

That is great news. I kept my 12 gm Callaway weight, just in case. Thats a hard one to find. Now I need to see what the others say about the sliding weight...I am sure 3rd parties will release their version (or the chinese knockoffs) :)

I still haven't put up better numbers with another club, but I tired of the dull feel and wonky performance if not hit on the sweet spot. It was like a more forgiving SLDR430 to me

 

I used it a lot, but never in a tournament. Always caved and went to the G

Here's another question on the face.

 

Face front got a huge bulls eye.

 

Yet, the good strikes are off the upper and slightly toe side. Does this mean with the AI constructed face, we have to center strike the ball to maximize distance???

 

Actually found it favors high toe again. I saw this and the rep said he has seen the same before I saw it on the monitor.

Even if it was off-center, how could he get to 189 MPH or 5 MPH faster than his Rogue? An off-center hit on an Epic Flash shouldn't bring you more MPH than an on-center hit with the Rogue if the Flash is just trying to replicate on-center hits across the face.

 

I agree, but an on center hit on most drivers is going to get you close to a 1.5 smash factor. I'm not sure you can overcome physics when cor/ct is limited on all drivers. A higher max ball speed has to come from a hotter face, thus non-conforming. If they designed the greatest ever variable thickness face and suddenly you can get 1.5 smash even 1/2" away from the center in all directions, this could give significant ball speed increases on off center hits. But variable face thickness isn't really new technology. The only possibility for such gains seems that this variable thickness design is significantly better than any previous design.

 

But again, if the off-center hit is just as good as an on-center hit now, how did the Flash beat his best on-center hit with the Rogue by 5 MPH?

Yes, that is the only possibility if the cor/ct limit is still being honored. My guess is that this is serious marketing hype for what amounts to a slightly to moderately more forgiving variable thickness face. Unless the MOI is also closer to the limit, I'm not sure if this will be more forgiving than the G400 Max, which we know has the highest MOI of any driver available now.

 

 

Or.... this tech allows them to make a face at the actual allowed variance level. See there’s the rules level then plus so many points ( I forget ) variance. If they can manufacture them at the upper level with consistency then you’d see gains over today’s heads which are several points below max spec.

 

I suspect what you’re about to see is a rule change. Callaway and Tm playing too close to the fires edge with face tech.

I think the FT Tour/FT-9 TA was my all time favorite driver of any brand. The line brings back all sorts of good feels for me. Don't mind it any more than the noticeable seam on any other driver (TM, Cobra, Ping's Dragonfly). Not too many options that have a plain black crown anymore. I will admit, I am a little over the visible carbon composite though. Wouldn't mind if they just started painting over it.

Will be interested to see what the line on the crown is there for. It really feels out of place. I don't see a function of it and cosmetically looks odd.
