El Tucan Speaks..... (NO POLITICS)

Recommended Posts

Can we get an updated list of his sponsors so we know who to boycott?

I own Sketchers but i just threw them out. A site listed GreyGoose Vodka as one of them

I'm done with them. Tito's from now on. Tito's sounds like "Tucan"

Solidarity!

LOL-- I normally buy Tito's but I'll buy GG this weekend. As for Sketchers, just ordered my first pair :)

Drinkin Grey Goose in a pair of sketchers. Just douse yourself with some patchouli and it

Sounds like a SJW outfit ; )

Kidding, BDP.

Tuc is starting to get annoying to me. Which means he is probably getting extremely annoying to Kuch and Stieny.

Which means, lol, maybe his strategy is working.

So much speculation still going on in this Internet mess.

Restaurant analogies...percentage calculations...wild speculation...and at the end of the day none of this is any of our business.

There's only (2) people who's business any of this pertains to.

Some of you guys are quick to tell others how to spend their money.

I won't tell you how you should spend your money...so long as you don't try to tell me how I should spend my money.

If I were you I'd invest heavily in Honma.

Notice the Tuc used the ol' "Mexican reporters won't stop contacting me and (so far) I haven't talked to them" threat . . . negotiation threat executed nicely, just like a Wall Street crony. Maybe the Kuch messed with the wrong Tuc.

The guy is changing his story... In one article he's quoted as saying he didn't expect the full % but then above he says "in line with what regular caddies make for a win"

To be fair, the Twitter post quoted above is Ortiz actual email that he sent to Steinberg in January. He’s not changing anything. It is the exact original. Baumberger butchered the quote in the Golf.com piece.

Ortiz also went on to explain “in-line with what a regular caddies make” meant a regular replacement caddie which would be a customary 5%.

Quick question. I thought the chap didn't speak English?

Google translate wouldn't get it that clean in a straight swap. Has he retained official representation or is this one of the rubber-neckers helping out?

He said/ He said. Someone is telling the truth and someone isn't.

I personally have not seen the cancelled check or a picture showing Kuch only gave him $5k.

How do we know Kuch didn't give him $35k he wanted $50k and then was offered the $15?

Sounds strange I know but we truly do not know. Unless I missed something? I did not read this entire thread.

Kuch gave him an envelope filled with $5000 cash in a variety of different bills in Sunday evening. That's is the one thing that seems to be a fact here.

As I said previously, I'm guessing he cleaned out the ATM at the resort and took all the cash he could get his hands on from the front desk at the resort.

It's not like any player is going to carrying around huge sums of cash in Mexico. Perhaps the plan was always to offer him more later via wire transfer and things went terribly sideways.

....or perhaps Kuchar is actually the cheapest man on planet earth.

There are plenty of ways to get him money, but he may not have a checking account to wire it to, or even a Paypal account. Is paying him cash even a smart idea? What if the envelope had 100K in it and he is lying? No way to trace it......

If I was Kucher I would have purchased a Visa debit card with 5% on it and handed it to him. The cash handling may be a bit weird in Mexico, I'm not an expert.

What, you can reference a good negotiating skill on his part but I can’t comment on the lack of such skill when it was needed? That sounds about par for this thread.

He says he had help from some Americans down there after the tournament - i.e. Mr. Plaid Shorts!

Doubt if much in the emails are his original thoughts - I think he's smarter than the guys "helping" him lose the $15k.

I was joking in both posts. I don't actually think he's a savvy negotiator and you can obviously comment whatever you want. But we've already talked about that agreement bit over and over and over.

But okay if you want a serious reply to that here it is: Tucan should have maybe laid out an official agreement with Kuchar on exact bonus percentages. In hindsight, trusting Kuchar to pay out an appropriate amount was a mistake. However, Tucan's mistake doesn't make it okay for Kuchar to only give him a .15% bonus. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Skechers is a brand that extends beyond Golf shoes, yes? Millennial's buy a lot of shoes.. Potential connection? I also know of many millennial golfers who also use social media and are members of this forum...

Not many millenials are busting down doors to buy the latest skecher sneaker. Not sure if you're aware.

Thanks for the clarification. Do you know where this 5% comes from? A PGA tour caddie or a local resort caddie fill in, or???

Bad look all around, including the caddie, as many have said. IMHO, I don’t watch El Tucan playing on weekends. I will see Kuchar playing on weekends and every time I do I will be thinking, “that grinning Skechers endorsed ***** is worth 25 million plus, had a looper by his side for a 1.2 mill win that resides in a country ripe with economic strife, and gave him 5k”. The Dude does not abide! I guess Gillis stirred a few pots as he intended.
