Most forgiving players iron made within the past 5 years?

Cannot see anything out performs 0311T.

Tried miura 001, 716 ap2, 718 ap2, apex x blades, mp18sc, jpx900, none could outperform 0311T. Center hit wise miura 001 feels better than 0311T but just marginally.

They may be great, but I am not looking to spend more than $800, which is why I am curious about older models. Thanks for the reply :).

Pxg 0311t can be easily had for under $800 if you look around. That being said j40 or j15 from Bridgestone would be good for something more economical

I haven’t ran across a set for less than a $1,000. I would definitely consider some J15s if I could find a set that was in great shape. That seems to be a rare find now.

What other irons should I be considering?

I have had Mizuno MP 5 in the bag for a while now and they won’t be departing. The channel back makes them just forgiving enough but not so much that a bad swing puts the ball out of the park. Plus they, like most blades, are much easier to keep clean. All the nooks and crannies may be great on an English muffin but they sure make keeping a club clean difficult.

I'd go with Ping S55 and a close second for the Bridgestone J40/J15 series.

I currently play S55 and have for a few years. Previously it was J40 DPC/CB combos and J15 combos. The Bridgestone have longer heel to toe measurements. But I much prefer the smaller heads of the S55.

PING

as little golf as i play, i always ask my buds (on tour) what the best new "whatever" is. most recently, had a convo with a bud playing in the asian tour (and is currently sponsored by taylormade) and asked what are the best irons in the game. he said if he wasn't signed to tm, that he'd be bagging a set of pings. good enough for him, good enough for me. i too was looking for a forgiving players iron, and ended up getting fitted into a set of miura cb1008's, which, to say the least, are not forgiving. g'luck with your search.

J15CB, Wilson Staff V4 (can be found for around $200-$250 in good condition), Srixon z7 series, any AP2, JPX9xx...basically their all good. Buy what you hit best/like the way it looks.

I'm biased b/c I play them, but give the JPX 850 Forged a look. I'm sure you can find a set for a pretty solid price these days. Some might view them as more on the line between GI and players irons, but the lack of offset and the fact that you can't see the cavity behind the topline at address all the way through the set firmly place them in players category IMO. That said, the length of the face is definitely on the longer side for a players iron. I find them to be surprisingly forgiving, and the sole grind with leading and trailing edge relief is stellar.

Based on the Maltby data, the Callaway Rogue Pro is also an excellent option. MOI at 13.1 and a a C Dim. of 1.405. The Bridgestone J40 DPC is a great option as well.

biased opinion here, but the MP-25s are very forgiving, and you can get them for a steal on ebay, 2ndswing, etc. JPX900 forged should also be considered.

18’ Callaway X Forged...changed from Mizuno MP 5/25 combo and the X Forged felt softer and were more forgiving. Great irons.

Being a retailer of most major brands, and having the luxury of hitting/trying most of them on course, I'd have to say the most forgiving in this category is the Bridgestone TourB CBs. And in my opinion it's not even close. I have a set that I fall back on when I just want to just go out and have fun and hit good iron shots/score well and not fuss around with my swing or equipment. I probably should just play them all the time, but I like to experiment and tinker.

Just yesterday picked up a set of very lightly used 0311T's for $525. 5-GW with Modus3 120's.
