Ping I210 Long Term Reviews - Anyone?

I had the opportunity to get out to the range this afternoon and played a few holes...  I arrived about an hour later than I wanted so I ran through some range balls to loosen up then went straight to the first tee.  The i210's are definitely a club longer than my s55's and the level of forgiveness is really "off the charts".  I definitely was not swinging well today as it seemed as if everything hurt and I really never felt like I got loose...  I played 36 holes last Friday, 18 on Saturday and another 18 on Sunday...  getting old sucks...  anyway, the i210's gave me decent results on some really bad swings.

I think I may like the c-Taper Lite shafts too...  I can really feel shaft load and unload through impact...

What I was concerned with regarding the i210's was chipping around the greens.  One thing I love about the s55 is using them around the greens.  The smaller clubhead just feels more natural...  I had two opportunities to chip with the i210's...  once with the PW and once with the 8 iron.  I lipped the 8 iron out, I don't know how it didn't go in, and the chip with the PW stopped about 6 inches from the hole.

The i210's really are "point and shoot" as "SwooshLT", I believe, described.  I didn't try to work the ball any left or right but did hit a couple of knockdown punch shots as the wind started to pick up the last 3 or 4 holes and the i210's performed flawlessly.

We're gonna turn i210s clock back!  Yeah I'm just smitten with these .....keep us posted

Just a follow up to my original post.  I play a local par 3 around my house, it has holes ranging anywhere from 110 to 215 in yardage.  I play 2 balls so most certainly not official but since moving over to the i210 retro's I went from 5 - 7 pars with an occasional birdie to 14 pars on average.  Where these excel for me personally is on the longer par 3s, such as 140 - 170.  For the 215's I have play a driving iron, usually a TM 4 or Srixon 5 Iron.  Still not enough to get there but the way the hole plays a lower ball flight will run up on the green.

With that said, 140 - 160 has been absolutely transformational to my game with these clubs.  The ball sets hard like a meteor and holds greens whereas the 410's and F7 zipped off the back due to the strong loft and low ball slight.

I'm sure it's swing related a little but I don't know....   At tour champion I took in my irons and compared and the launch from the 6 iron was 68 - 72 ft with the 210's it wasn't even comparable.

The 'Customize Me' button on Carl's website is disabled, but I'm seeing options to select the club(s), dexterity, shaft, length, loft, color code, and grip. Basically it looks like one can customize an individual iron(s).

PGA Superstore's website has a 'Customize Club' button. 'Seems to be working.

Adding to my findings;  unsure if it is just perfect spin dynamics or what but the i210's don't want to change carry yardages much......downwind,  into the wind,  cross breeze.......each carry is so very close ......I'm pulling clubs based on this unscientific prose.....just don't see much change in yardages

This thread has been very helpful, and I’ve just ordered a set of these, 4-P, blue dot with the AWT regular shaft.  I’ve been looking at them since they came out but couldn’t justify a new set until now.  Thought I’d better go for it while they’re still available!  This’ll be the first set of irons I’ve had from new, so I’m pretty excited!

How long of a wait?

I think the i210 Power Specs will be my gamers going forward. I range compared my current cobras against the i210s,T100, and g425 and the i210s just worked best for me. The i210s gave consistent yardages and are pretty forgiving.

The T100 felt great when hit solidly but unfortunately I’m not consistent enough and the i210s were more forgiving.

The G425s had no feeling but were point and shoot regardless of where on the face I hit it. With the right shaft they may work and I might keep as a backup.

My 1st foray into the i210 started today with the 6i - the hype around these over the last few years is pretty crazy

1st impressions are positive- generally huge looking from address though.....I'd imagine the 6i will stay in the bag to pair with i59 7-9i

Good stuff from i210

Power spec loft reduce the bounces so they're perfect to me.

Hi all, see some have alluded to but not fully unpacked bounce, sole width and turf interaction. Really keen on going the i210 route or possible new Mizuno 223, however both have thicker soles and slightly higher bounce (at least the i210 does).

What has been your experience with turf interaction in normal conditions? Shorter irons vs long etc. Those going to power spec, was it to reduce bounce or bring down flight/add distance?

I am currently playing MP5 blades with thin sole but want the benefit of the bigger club without losing to much on the sole / turf side. I will test naturally 🙂

The turf interaction with these is definitely going to be different than your blades. I actually bought a set of Cobra blades to try for a while because the i210s really don't take a divot in normal conditions on a perfect strike, just disrupt the grass. It's a bit unusual for me as I expect to cut out a divot, and for a while it was getting in my head and I started hitting everything thin because the interaction of the club head with the turf just wasn't what I felt it should feel like. I've gone back and forth between the pings because they're just so forgiving and the blades because I prefer how they go through the ground.

Have you noticed that much of a difference in forgiveness between the i210 and the Iblades?  I am thinking about a possible combo set 4,5 i210 and actually i59 6-PW.  I have a little bit of a hard time getting along with offset and I know that the i210 have more than iblades and I am a little worried about combining the 2.

Got my i210s today and headed straight to the range.

I thought they might be much harder work than my G400s but I was pleasantly surprised how easy they were to hit.

The short irons were like throwing darts. The 5 iron will need practice.

The most impressive thing was the consistency in the distance they go.

The black dot may be a degree too upright for me, but we will see how they interact with real turf before making that decision.

I'm now on my 3rd set of I210s after selling the other two off as I had way too many iron sets.  Thought I was pretty set on the P760s as I liked them quite a bit, but sold them as well.  Decided to go out for a quick 18 today and brought the irons even though I dislike KBS shafts with a passion (this set has Tour 125 S+ in them that I was going to re-shaft during the off season).  Sadly I go and shoot  +1, 73 hitting 14 greens (6847y ocean level) and was pissed off the whole time as I liked the shafts, heads I already knew were solid...

Was debating on selling this set off as I have 2 other iron sets coming shortly...  Guess I can't now as that was my best score in the past 3 years and everything just worked...  Until next time, maybe...

The 4 iron doesn't bother me one bit. The 5-iron is a tougher call, but if it were me, I'd 210 it as well.

You know what's funny I was going through all of my content making sure I updated my thoughts....came across this haha. Since I got the i210's in August of last year they were. Then I tried the Mizuno HM Pro's and they kicked the i210's out of the bag. To each their own but as mentioned another reason why this site can be hilarious at times

Now what do you have Srixon ,  Too Funny .   Follow the yellow brick road .
