The only other tee shot I hit that got me into trouble on the day was also with the 3w (though that was a good swing, but just missed my target by a little bit), so it's obviously the club's fault. In all seriousness, I've come back to the realization that in my long game, I can really benefit more from a little extra forgiveness more than being able to hit it farther. Ping really seems to deliver that without much compromise when it comes to distance.

you could also learn a bunt driver for lots of forgiveness vs a 3w off the tee

I also suggest the 17.5 g series heads turned down to 16.5* .. don't need a 3w. great off the deck as well

Ping G400 LST 11* Ventus Black TR 5x

Ping G400 5w 16.9* Ventus Black 5x

I have played that shot in the past, but it's not one that I think to use very often, and looking back at it later in the day, I was kicking myself for not thinking of trying that. It's the perfect type of hole for that shot -- very wide up until the water, and it would be hard to screw it up that badly with the bunt driver. Thinking clearly under pressure isn't my strong suit. :(

I only mention it because they are now proving how much better pretty much everyone is off the tee with a driver vs a 3w

You hit driver a load more and it's double the size.

I do this a lot on "thread the needle" type holes. Grip it way down, arms super-connected, 3/4 type swing produces low straight bullets. I'll still use 3 wood or less if there's a bunker or other I'm trying to avoid long.

Yeah someone did. They didn't push the send button for the order of lst heads. I'm in the same boat. Ordered may 7. Someone at ping made a mistake.... Doesn't seem to be a concern for ping.

3/4 driver was my 3-wood for most of my earlier tournament career

Way better option if you can dial it in. But essentially a band-aid solution until you put in the reps and prayer lol to figure out 3w

G410 LST is the best yet.

Less pointy toe like the former g400 lst, I've gone through 7 of these heads in a love hate relationship & trying every new driver out there thinking it's better than the g400 lst.

The new G410 LST shape is better and sounds great, even without hotmelt. My TD might be a bit longer on some hits but I have no clue where the TD is going. The G410 LST was a simple drop in and go (g400 lst will be up on BST soon)

Testing a PO 60tx and Diamana DF 60TX

Everybody relax, I’m here

Performance was similar to my 400 LST but a touch less spin (small yardage increases) Good comparison as I had played the same course the day before with my 400 LST. The only bothersome thing is the sound, the 400 sounded a lot better IMO, back to a loud "ping: sound with the new one. Otherwise great stick and I like the flat setting.

Interesting feedback as I didn't like the sound of the 400 LST and found the feel harsh. Im using a Flash SZ now which doesn't feel or sound great to me either so i had high hopes the 410 LST would feel a little less harsh and also sound a bit more like the regular G400.

Having just come from the Flash SZ, my opinion is that both the sound and feel of the 410 LST are far more pleasant.

Can you let us know how those two shafts compared in that head? I have the PO in the G400 LST, but want to try the DF too.

PING has bungled this whole LST release from the start. I also read reports that toe screws in the blueprint irons are rattling. They need to tighten things up (literally).

@halfsumo

Agreed on the LST release. Not their finest hour. A bit frustrating for everyone involved.

I don’t think the blueprints are having problems. One random guy said it in the blueprint forum, but mine have been perfect and two people I know have sets that have been perfect. I think he was trolling (unheard of on WRX I know!).
