I was embarrassed to be at Bethpage...

Other than the 18th tee, didn't hear any hooligans out on the course. They made Willett laugh so much serenading him with Danny Boy on the 18th tee that he threw them a ball. All good fun.

Phil gave my wife a high 5 and Tony Finau autographed some stuff for wife and me.

Almost no mud on course. Perfect weather.

Very organized getting people to/ from the course and in the huge merchandise tent.

If you go, you'll do some walking.

And I noticed that English golfer Eddie Pepperell actually tweeted that the fan should have been kneed to the face, which seems a lot more egregious than a rude comment. But I guess this is where we're at. Promoting violence is okay in response to a dumb comment.

I do find it quite interesting how that suggestion came from an Englishman who wasn't even in New Orleans and had nothing to do with the event. And then Horschel's Twitter feed was flooded with more Brits telling him "good job Billy, let's assault the Yank fans." There seems to be an obvious agenda here.

Too many parents did a poor job at teaching respectful behavior and hence little johnny thinks the world revolves around him. As for an actual knee perhaps not, but being thrown out with no refund, yes. If resisting security for removal then they deserve to be aggressively manhandled and feel some pain and embarrassment. And yes you sound exactly like a member that was banned from WRX, a guy from Chicago that thought he was hot stuff with a three letter word name that was H... S... S.

So now you've gone from "he deserves a knee to the face" to "perhaps not' so maybe we're making progress. I have no idea who this Chicagoan was but if he sounds like me then he must've been quite brilliant. I'll leave you with this tweet, from a European no less:

Adam Scott was heckled pretty hard today. And not just the guys who followed him calling him tiger for some unknown reason.

I also heard several idiots yelling after every DJ chip or putt. Like a big Yeaahhh! Randomly after a Chip or bunker shot. Wasn’t just idiots on 18. Unless cbs is piping in idiot voices.

Maybe I'm desensitized. Everyone was quiet during swings and I didn't hear a single bababooey.

Yep. Tried to get a group together to play tomorrow. Half on vacation , the others have commitments ranging from wife’s birthday to “ my back hurts “. Nobody said “ I’m staying home to watch the pga”. Looks like it will be me and little man for 5 o’clock 9 .

I was watching and hearing blasts of bros shouting and trying to one up each other in poor behaviour. I thought "are these guys just purposely standing near the microphone clowning or are they being that fricking loud for real?" - it kinda shocked me that none of the players looked off to gesture a WTF? towards the spectators.

Golf used to be so cool, the respect for the game combined with thoughtful patrons. Walls of smartphones have destroyed it for me...now I watch in horror at the crowds taking it all in through their screens. Bring on end times please! o:)

Same with people at concerts. People just can't enjoy the moment.

Yep. Noticed Jordan dead ignoring some “ nice shot Jordan “ after he hit something bad , which is what his sister says often no matter the outcome . If that was on purpose , in that context , then I can’t say what I’m thinking it’s so bad. Truth is if you engaged them then they would get worse. They absolutely want someone to say anything back.

Clearly something needs to be done. This isn't a New York or Long Island problem--it started during that absolute joke of the 16th hole in Phoenix and has gotten worse as the years have gone by.

For me it has made watching tournaments a difficult process--so much time I have the sound muted just to be able to watch the matches.

I'm sure the venues are not willing to give up the income from the alcohol sales and are reluctant to pass up the ticket sales from the drunk idiots but the noise, disruption, and rudeness are so alien to most of us had considered golf a staid quiet game.

Eventually the PGA and the players have to make a decision about the direction they want to take this self created mess.

Augusta does not tolerate the behavior so whatever method(s) they use at the venue should be applied to ALL tournaments and a good start would be that aforementioned 16th hole at the start of the year.

We all need to get involved if we want to enjoy our game in decency.

And if so, is it a "primary" offense (i.e. a cop CAN stop you for it) " Or is it only a secondary offense where you can only be ticketed for it if a cop stops you for something else and also sees you were on a hand held phone (or texting) ?

They have a no texting law but it is only a $25 fine but I think it is a primary offense. They are trying to do an overall bill like the one in Georgia where it is hands free driving period. I know one of my buds on another golf site visited me one day. He is a Police Officer in Georgia. He gave me the run down on the law. Now commercial vehicles it is another matter it is hands free period or a big big fine. But that comes under federal law. That is why you see most professional truck drivers with headsets on. Since my truck is a 2017 it has the built in Bluetooth from the factory like most cars. BTW in SC the seat belt ticket is only $25 but they finally made it a primary offense it was a secondary offense for years

I am going to amend your statement on the helmet law in SC---- It is a choice to wear a helmet or not if you are over 21. Under 21 you gotta wear a helmet. Being Harley Week here now sadly we have had I know of 3 fatalities and the press is quick here to point out if they were wearing a helmet or not. But the same theme with car fatalities they are quick to point out if they are wearing a seat belt or not. The only reason they passed the seat belt law in SC was because the federal government threatened them to cut back federal highway funds if they did not do so

Trust me I know all about distracted driving---- I see it every day being a professional truck driver--- Trust me up in a big truck you can spot them quick weaving across the line and running up on people's rear end. What has gotten to be a problem here is the little old blue haired ladies that can not drive to begin with driving 20 in a 45 with cell phone tucked firmly in ear.

That not the point but obviously you knew that before you tried to act offended. To answer your question, of course I am and have been since the age of 10 when I lost a 5 year old cousin and nearly list my aunt and her three daughters when someone coming at them reached for a piece if gum. You tried to make a point that 2+2= apple pie and that's ridiculous.

Yes ridiculous as in how you are acting. Try to focus as it's you being ridiculous with your meandering story to try to make a point that is about as silly and far off topic as you can get. I expect better from you.

Yep. I’d hate to see our roads if they cut back funds. I guess we’d go back to dirt roads lol. I know they pave them around Charleston and MB regularly ... but upstate it’s a joke. They’ve shut down parts of interstate 4-5 times this year because of potholes big enough to bust tires. And of course a blowout at 70 plus equals crashes.

Blade, honestly all those things you mentioned trump watching golf on TV no matter who is playing.

Some people here clearly have an unhealthy obsession with Tiger. Like I said, if Tiger was leading by 7 the fanboys would be here with a lot of drivel nonsense. Good golf is good no matter who is playing.

> >

>

Come to NY and sample some of our potholes but wear a mouth guard to avoid having some fillings knocked loose.

No it doesn't, and No we dont. Just because a segment doesn't care for something doesn't mean its wrong or bad or going in the wrong direction. If you find to it to be so terrible and are triggered, then dont go or watch but to act as if people need to band together to stop something because you dont like it is silly.

I thought "are these guys just purposely standing near the microphone clowning or are they being that fricking loud for real?" - it kinda shocked me that none of the players looked off to gesture a WTF? towards the spectators.

You consider a big Yeaahhh! to be heckling? Clearly, you're not from around here. None of the players looked off the green because it it doesn't bother them. The players are way more concerned with something happening while they are actually making a stroke than anything before or after it.

The microphones on the course make things sound louder on TV than in person. I watched a couple groups tee off the first hole on TV on Friday and the announcer's voice is very loud and clear on TV. Was standing to the side of the grandstands behind the first tee yesterday about 25 feet from the left tee maker. Could barely hear the announcement for Adam Scott.

Yup, and here's another truth bomb. Some of the players like the give & take with the Long Island bros.

I mean, a British spectator at Birkdale picked up McIlroy's ball, stuffed it in his pocket and likely cost the golfer third place and $200,000. Is that the paradigm we should all follow, from the self-proclaimed best galleries on earth?

Pretty big majority here would agree that the behavior is not wanted. Simple as that.
