Well the 125tx do build up on the heavier side compared to most shafts.  My 6 iron is just almost half inch long and came in at d4 with a midsize grip.  I hit some balls with it in my net.  No data.  But feels really good in the net off a mat.  Compared to the X7 the 125tx has slightly more kick or a bigger kick at the ball than x7.

Not surprising you'd find more kick, since the 125 TX is based on DGX.

I've wondered what X7 users would look for in graphite iron shafts, in terms of flex.  I'm guessing there aren't a lot of options; offhand, I can only think of BAD's Rebar shafts.

Wouldn't that leave the shortest club(s) in the set a bit soft?

I don't play in that zipcode and haven't tried the MMT, so it's purely a speculative question.  🙂

Thanks yes I did hardstep the 6 iron MMT, forgot to mention that👍.  If I like what I see on the course. I would build up the the rest of the irons 3-9 iron.  I am sure I could tip the PW and other wedges if I wanted to go MMT in the wedges.  It just depends on how much they firm up or not when going shorter.  I can always play the steel in the wedges too.  I think the X7 has better feel than the x100.  The X7 is very much like a PX 7.0 profile but with much better feel imo.  The BAD shafts last I checked were only made in 7 iron.  I am guessing I will see just a more effortless swing, improved smash, and similar numbers.  But will see.  I have to learn how to swing a club again with all this weather...🥶🏒🥌💨

Players typically play a slightly softer flex in wedges anyway so it should be fine.  Obviously there are outliers but 99.9999% of people would not over power the 125TX.  It may not work for you but it won't be because you overpowered the golf shaft.

I agree with that.  I built up a recoil f5 125 last summer and that thing spun like crazy!  The MMT I can tell is much stiffer than that recoil and i think a hair stiffer than the steelfiber 125x.  I need some real grass and divots in the wild to make any better assessment than that...

What a club or shaft does in the wild on a course is the end all be all.

There is also the option to use the specific MMT wedge shaft. They are a little heavier I think.

Heading to club champion next weekend. Currently have the 921 tour with c taper lite x. Going mainly to try the 105tx in the new callaway line.

For what it's worth, I put the 105 TX straight in a combo set of Sub70 699/699 Pros after playing C-Taper Lite Xs in Cobra SpeedZones last summer. Seem to be getting better launch, apex, dispersion, club and ball speeds from the MMTs, comparatively.

Average 6 iron swing speed around 96 on Flightscope Mevo.

Thanks for that input. I don’t quite get up that high on a 6i. Maybe 90-93mph Max but that’s good feedback. I’m honestly even thinking recoils. Hit the 95 F4 and F5 non protos yesterday and really enjoyed them

Obviously feel is subjective, but I feel the MMTs are more stout than the CTLs when waggled. Through impact, however, the MMTs have a nice unloading sensation similar to what I've experienced from the CTLs in the past.

I've been hitting off mats all winter and the lack of elbow/wrist pain following a bucket of balls from switching to graphite was well worth the cost of the shafts. Night and day difference.

Since the MMTs can only be ordered in 5-9 sets, with singles of the 3, 4 and wedges, I ordered a 4-iron shaft to test first. I figured if it was too stout in the 4 iron I could soft step it and not waste a shaft. And if I absolutely hated it, I was only out $75 for the test. I ended up loving them and have them in 4-AW, 54 and 58 wedges and have the 105 TX Utility and 80 TX hybrid shafts on order.

How do the MMTs compare to the Modus 125X? A bit lower launch/spin?

Would it be a straight in or soft-step of the MMT 125 TX to match the Modus 125X?

And where are you guys getting the MMT125X from? Peoples?

Played modus 105-x for a few years

recently switched to amt tour white s300 - was having some dispersion and contact issues in the shorter irons, so thought a little more weight would help....

which MMT's do you think would fit me best....?

the 105s, since the dispersion of MMT is so much better it will counter the weight on the scoring irons?

or

125s.....even though will be very heavy for me in the longer irons of the bag?

thanks

appreciated

How far do you hit your 7 iron? Based on what you were playing and what worked I'd say try 105TX soft stepped.

I tested modus 125x this past year.  I dont have a full set of the MMT yet but based on what I feel flex wise I would say soft step the MMT 125TX to equal the modus 125x.

Morry it depends if your issue is caused more by static weight, swingweight, or flex.  The AMT white are climbing towards a standard dynamic gold weight ~130grams in the short irons.  So not sure the 125s would help you in that regard.  I'm thinking 105TX softstepped might be good for you.  But get the right swingweight to help you make solid contact.

My carry is in that ball park and I’m going 125g stiff.  Will let you know how it goes when I get them installed.  Will be a while though.
For reference, I’m a long time Ctaper user in stiff and Stiff+.  Also more recently gamed the $tapers.  Curious to see how the MMTs play.  I have not tested them, just jumped in for giggles.  I plan to install the 5 iron shaft first (straight in) and see how that goes.

Low 170's is tour average. Depends what loft your 7 iron is. It's it's strong, then maybe an S. If it's normal then maybe a TX or TX soft stepped.

Then it depends on preferences...

I've had a 105s in my 7 iron for testing for over a week now. The rest of my irons have c-taper lite x shafts. For reference, my SS with the 7 iron is between 87-89 mph. I feel like the MMT 105s and C-taper Lite X are pretty similar as far as flex. The overall feel is obviously different with the c-taper lites being a little counterbalanced. I've been extremely impressed with the MMT and will likely make the switch. I just need to test it on Trackman this weekend to make sure it isn't spinning too much, but my dispersion has really tightened up with the MMT.

I am also in the low 170s with my 7i (King Forged CB), and using $ Taper 130g so I'm curious for your thoughts. I am thinking about just ordering a set of T100s through Peoples with the 125s in the next month or two, but can't decide between stiff or tx soft stepped. Driver SS is in the 108 range with quick transition so my needs are for the right weight more than something super stout.

Of course going to try and hit them if possible before ordering, but I feel like with how popular these are, the resale wouldn't require me to take too much of a hit if they didn't work out.

I've been following this thread closely. Always a challenge trying to fit yourself over the internet, but here we are!

I've had a tough time up in Canada trying to get my hands on these shafts to test. I'm currently playing PX LZ 6.0 120G and have really good results. Launch/spin are excellent. Due to a torn ligament in my wrist, I'm looking to relieve a bit of stress in my wrist.

Driver SS is around 107 (smooth swing/transition)

Carry 7 iron around 175 yards (smooth swing/transition)

The dilemma for me is how different will the MMT 105TX play vs.  MMT125S. Does the difference in weight between these shafts close the gap in flex/how they would play?

I would like to keep it right around 120 grams which puts me between the two! I've read that some people experience lower than desired spin results with these shafts. I would be inclined to go with the option that kept my spin up/closer to the LZ 6.0.

Will be plugging these into some ZX7's or the faithful MP 64s

Any help/advice is appreciated!

Curious to hear this thoughts on the difference as well.

Well...I've had a 105s in my 7 iron for testing and I'm really not sure what to do now. Coming from a C-taper lite x flex. I average 87 mph with a 7 iron...can vary 86-89 mph. My left to right dispersion has been great with the 105s, but I think my tempo has suffered a little from the shafts being 10g lighter than what I'm used to. The biggest issue is that I'm launching the 7 iron at 22* and around 7k spin. I tend to launch irons high and put a lot of spin on them. My attack angle is down 2-3*. Should I hard step the 105s? Go with the 105tx soft stepped? I really like the shaft, but that high of launch is too high for the spin I generate.
