I always wonder how club-head design works. If a driver is made to a certain physical design, how come the fairways are always the same design? Such a different performing club should warrant a totally typical design for performance right?

Adams tried this once. It didnt go well. I think they do design them differently or independently to some degree but try to keep things similar enough to market as a package to a certain extent as well.

callaway recently tried this as well with the release of the steelhead fairway woods. they didn't sell at all.

There is the standard model, the SZ, and draw models. So you will get all three. That seems to be the way of the world now.

M2 and m4 were fade biased. M5 has a bit of fade bias to it.

Does it matter in terms of performance? No. But if you want golfers to buy your latest 500 dollar driver you have to pay attention to design. When you are selling high-end equipment, it should look high-end. This looks like it was made by PowerBuilt. Hard to understand how they can be making such good equipment and then miss so badly on the visuals.

That said, your point is true, if it performs... I'll play it. I'll also send it into continental for a refinish to get rid of that hideous orange!

good points. But, they must know something about high handicappers and generation z that we don't. twice a year golfers must want something that looks like Ricky on a Sunday.

Enlighten me. How does "high end" look? What look designates "high end"? You want some stars or diamonds or a print of a girl on there or something? To some, simpler is better. To others, gawdy and over the top are a result of high end. It's a simple thing man. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and if this give you optimal numbers and looks the part at address but doesn't do it for you on the sole then fine. No one will criticize, or care what you have to say (nor do they now).

I'm just saying, I didn't buy by M6, M3, Epic Sub Zero for G400 LST because of looks. I bought my blades because of looks.

To those bashing people on not even trying based upon looks - the thing is, to any skiled player, a golf club won't perform well for a golfer who doesn't like the appearance of it.

For those who are sensitive to appearance, if theres things you know you don't like about the club, that all adds up towards a negative outlook in the club meaning you won't hit it well.

This only doesn't apply to people who are completely function over form and doesn't care what their clubs look like - they are seen as tools and do a job.

I'm an artist so I take care in choosing clubs that suit my eye.

I think you may have inadvertently made the point others are trying to make: looks (and feel) are important. All things being equal, golfers will reject an ugly club. This club is ugly. Unless it does hit it 380 (and it doesn't, unless you’re Rory or Brooks), there are other options out there that will look more confidence-inspiring but do the same thing.

2017 M2 was so good that TaylorMade brought it back this Fall as their $249.00 Driver.

Will probably outsell all other drivers in 2020.

Same shape as the rogue from the bottom ot appears. I guess its a rogue with flash face... i would put my money on that. No track, glued hosel, touch more forgiving from shaping, face less deeper, and flash face with new name and color then rogue. Bam. Rogue looks way better imo. Doesnt quite look like a callaway club from pics at least. Should have written callaway mavrik on the bottom not just mavrik with head color mostly black with little hint of a deep grape soda purple imo

I think that's why it looks a bit off - the logo isn't that visible, and you just see a giant MAVRIK logo that kind of cheapens it. With that being said, it is not the worst looking driver. A bit bland given last year's awesome Epic Flash.
