Started year with G400 with Atmos Black 7x - solid driver

Next - fitted for F9 with Elements Platinum - developed severe, severe two way miss (sold cobra and never want to see one again)

Next - Titleist TS4 with Pro Orange - good driver for a few rounds, not consistent enough

Next - Epic Flash Sub Zero with VA Raijin - nice, a little pullish for me

Next - Epic Flash Sub Zero with Oban HB - very nice, no pull, consistent fade to straight ball

Callaway Rogue - Game the previous year...wanted something different...sold it

Callaway Epic - Took to the range once and was mortified by the sound...promptly sold it

Cobra F9 - Wanted to like it but something was just off...sold it

TaylorMade M3 - Picked up on a great sale...fell in love with it...in the bag now

TaylorMade M5 - Picked up to test against the M3. M5 lost so I sold it

Will probably game M3 for 2020 but may talk myself into trying some other new releases.

Callaway Rogue has been my main driver.

I special ordered a Titleist TS2 driver with Project X smoke shaft that should be coming in next week. We shall see if I will be selling the rogue. I really liked the results on the monitor. Best feeling and most consistent driver I have had in a long time.

Driver: Titleist TSR3 - Fujikura Ventus TR Velocore Red 6-X

Titleist TS2/TS3 - Evenflow white is very good and TS3 is well balanced

Cobra F9 - Speed monster and low spin

PXG 0811X/XF - again very balanced, what i want is a 0811X spin and length with the XF feel sound and forgiveness

Ping 410+/ LST - These almost made the bag, great club, found LST to be longer and + more forgiving and shorter

Callaway Flash triple diamond - nice club but nothing special

Mizuno ST190/190G - i actually preferred the 190 vs G, it hit some bombs for me and was plenty forgiving but it was a light feeling head

Taylormade M5 - Superb sound and feel and great spin control, would have been a winner with a deeper face

Taylormade M4 ( tour issue ) although this was the previous edition, tour issue is so much cheaper once a new model comes out - Very good club but M5 is better

Shafts i tried this year were Accra TZ5/TZ6, HZRDUS HULK, Tour AD VR, Raijin Black, Raijin White, Ventus Blue , Ventus Black, Diamana ZF - All shafts this year have gotten smoother and are superb at reducing spin, in this dept its hit what u like, all shafts were brilliant.

Although i spend a ton of cash on equipment, i still can't knock out my gamers which is the Big Bertha Fusion but this this year the Ventus Blue took over and my woods is the Adams ( silver top w/ channel ) which now gets a 2" tipped IZ6X. ( the PXG gen2 with Tensei pro orange and 410 LST gave the adams a good fight but surprisingly cannot beat it )

I stuck with the Wilson D300 with ust vts 70x shaft - after testing it out with the M1 440 last winter. Glad I stuck with same driver the whole year - huge benefit by year end - I hit 72 percent of fairways over 5 rounds in Myrtle Beach over Thanksgiving week. Plan on sticking with it next year as well. Those using several drivers over the year are really hurting their games. Give yourself a chance to really know a driver and you will see huge benefits.

Started with an Epic with Speeder 661.

Got fit by Ping for a G400 when they dropped the prices earlier this year.

Been playing that most of the year with A HZRDUS Yellow 76. ( Would like to try a HZRDUS Yellow Smoke 60 at some point ) Very happy, somewhere around 70% fairways Most misses are minimal.. Best Driver I've ever had.

No plans to change.

(BTW, I was able to demo head to head with my old Epic and the G410 Plus outdoors with Trackman, and while the Epic was slightly longer than either Ping, both Ping's were much more consistent and straighter. No real diff between the 400 and 410 for me, numbers wise.)

Rogue ST Max LS or Paradym 10.5 (9.5) Ventus TR 5 R

Paradym 3HL  NVS 65 R
AI Smoke 21* and 24*
PXG GEN6 XP 2X Black 6-GW MMT 6 or AI Smoke 6-GW Tensei white 75 R

PM Grind 2.0 54 and 58

Bettinardi Innovai Rev 6.0  33”

E.R.C. Soft TT/ Chrome Soft TT / TM Tour Response '20

Started the year withPing G 10.5 (3 years running),

Brief run with Ping G410 Plus 9.5 (1 Round)

Back to Ping G 10.5

Bought Srixon Z785 9.5 with HC Hazardous yellow

Dogfight for top spot.

Srixon Z785 firmly in bag. Ping G moved on.

Both had backweight design shafts, Alta v. Hazardous Yellow. Both very forgiving on thin or towards heel, my most common misses. Srixon had the advantage of throwing in sneaky long with a tad less spin and better feel. I can tee the ball lower with the Srixon and still get the flight I want.

I hit a lot of fairways with either one, so Srixon it is.

Started the year with my trusty Ping G SFT with Fubuki 60S that I had been fit for over 3 years ago. Been happy with it, but thought I’d see if tech had moved forward.

Tested a few and got the Ping G410 LST and SFT with Tensei Orange and White shafts to try in actual rounds. The SFT felt and performed basically the same as the G SFT. Perhaps a touch longer. The LST did not feel or perform as well.

Going to keep the G410 SFT with Tensei white and not giving up the G / Fubuki combo. Also picked up a Bridgestone Tour B XD-5 to try out. Like the idea of a shallow face.

Going to fool around with these and pick one for next year before the season starts. Then planning to stick with it for a good amount of time and really invest in making it work for a change.

I’m fairly disciplined (by WRX standards!) on drivers, irons and wedges (1-2 options at a time), super disciplined on woods and hybrids (strictly loyal to one), but totally crazy when it comes to putters (6-8 in rotation at any point in time).

You know they sell heavier weights you can swap out or even add an additional - would solve the lead tape issue.

Also - ditto on the alignment aid. I line it up on the toe every time with the M5 in order to get center/high toe contact. This never has been an issue with any other driver. However, the driver is outstanding, so a small inconvenience for me on an otherwise great product.

Well, I have a problem as well evidently! I’ve gone through 5 drivers this year.

ping G30 with a fujikara pro 75 has been my driver for 3 years, I decided it was time to retire it.

Up next came the cobra F8, the head continued to get loose so I upgraded to the F9. The F9 was surprisingly shorter.

Despite my hatred for TaylorMade due to them ruining club lifecycles and decimating retailers, I bit the bullet and purchased an M4, the length was great. However I ended up trading down for an M2. The M2 surprisingly worked better for me from a forgiveness standpoint. I have now decided I am back in the market for a driver, due to feeling dirty having a Taylor is my bag, lol.

Regardless of which driver I end up with, my 3wood game is stronger! The three inch gap between the ears is using more important than the 460cc we have in the driver :)

2020 will be the year of fairways, or so we hope!
