Probably another M/C for Phil in 2020. 5 M/C in 6 events on the PGA Tour in 2020. Since the start of 2019 Phil only has 3 top 10's on the PGA Tour. All in California. 14 M/C since the start of 2019. Phil has played a ton of bad to poor golf since the start of 2019. His end of 2018 wasn't much better. Only 1 top 10 in 2018 after the Masters.

Looking forward to this one over the weekend. JT seems to be trending in the right direction and BDC is knocking on the door. Seems like there would be a bit more room for both of them off the tee to have this as a good fit for them compared to the last couple of weeks.

I think the draw here is the story. I know I am interested and really want to see him back to where he was. Because of that, I want to see him featured. I think Phil is similar. It's a good story and we hope good golf comes from it. Even if they don't play well, seeing some of the emotions is part of the entertainment.

Second player to withdraw this week due to an illness that we are not supposed to talk about. Good news is he feels fine, and will be back in a few weeks.

I put a couple shekels of Sergio...played well last weekend, was a runner up in Hartford a few years ago...at 55-1...plus he wasn't picked by anyone on the PGATour.com Expert Picks...traditionally a kiss of death.

Like 99% of my golf bets, I expect this to be a wipe out and is really for entertainment purposes only.

But it's a lot of fun when every few years you hit a winner!

It is also a par 70 course and isn't terribly hard based upon rating and slope. The par fives are 574 and 523 (on the scorecard), 589 and 523 on the PGA Tour website. 4.400 and 4.436 scoring average on those two holes. Fairly benign despite water all over on the back nine par five.

The PGA is there because it is a TPC course and the PGA Tour is in the business of making money.

Why are they not at Yale? It is a similar yardage, par 70, higher slope and better architectural pedigree (CBM course, biarritz anyone?) Fairfield is a Raynor design but is only 6200 yards par 70.

TPC River Highlands is not even in the Golf Digest top ten in state.

As you said, Tour is in the business of making money. That means accessibility for the public to get to the course, room for them to spread out safely and watch, more people more tickets sold, means more money. Courses with smaller public viewing areas/capability hardly make the list. as playable on tour.

That said, remove/halve/quarter ticket sales for the public... and you open up the number of courses that CAN be played as you only need a minimal (mostly volunteer) staff. I'd love to see this myself.

I mean, just compare the clubhouse/parking lot size near the site for all the support vehicles, media tents, etc.... and where would the public be dropped off? You can do that near TPC, Yale? Not so much. There are certain logistical necessities needing to be met to get a tour.
