Mizuno E21 wedges: In-hand pics

Recommended Posts

It does look a lot like what Cleveland was going for with the Zip Core. Judging by the early pics, looks like Mizuno put enough meat high in these wedges to get the desired result.

Youre right, not sure what I was looking at..

Did see the 58.08 and 58.12, both in Wide, so maybe they are available in both grinds for all loft/bounce combos?

Not so much. More the high toe market. This is not meant as a handicap wedge.

Those look very cool. Their seeming chunkiness might be less apparent from address. Very nice.

Would like a deep, deep blue scheme.

Yeah, I was thinking similar... I like the overall idea and it will be interesting to see how they do on market...

seems like these would be great for good golfers, assuming they are willing to buy them.

im definitely going to give them a chance, though $400 on wedges is steep for me.

For sure.. that’s a lot for a wedge. Which we have been conditioned to thinking should be a certain price and is the club you replace the most often.

More than anything, my golf coffers are barren...

thinking about it, it probably makes more sense to spend $50 more and get a unique product... I got some sm6s this season for $60 and don’t feel like I gave anything up in terms of technology...

I’m not complaining about the price, it’s just not in my golf budget this year.

I think we all must start valuing are dollar... for $200 the wedge better backspin no matter what and stay new looking for at least 2 years lol.. this is nuts when you can buy a 2018 mizuno wedge right now.. which are really great wedges... for $70 brand new. Lets be real as new and good looking to some this might be.. its not worth the average joes dollar until a year or 2. The ceo will go grab one... not me neither should you. I can grab one if i want... not that im rich by any means.. but it really seems so outrages and slap in the eye. Wait and they will be $60.

Plenty of traditional wedges on the market (and mizuno makes one that looks great)... not much actual new tech in wedges. I'd rather see people produce something ugly and new... (and I don't think they are particularly ugly... not great, but if they play, I'd bag them)

Stunning design work. Very innovative. Interesting to see/hear more. Mizuno does not "frivolous". There is always long thought out applications.

Can it be voiced by Orson Welles or was that Unicron?

I'm really looking forward to demo-ing these... I think it makes sense to add forgiveness in wedges, I'm just curious to see how the golf hive mind takes to them... Obviously some what game them because they look bad... but if they out perform the "standard" wedge and don't look like Sure Outs, I'm willing to bet they do really well.

I have no issues with the shape and I like the tech around cg placement.   My only hesitation is the black finish.   50/50 on weather my ocd can handle seeing the get scratched up.  Would love to see a silver option but not holding my breath.

Nothing wrong with not liking a club because you don't like the way it looks (or the finish holds up)...

Hopefully they have some other options... I want one in blue if I'm going to drop the cash.

Hahaha... I'm just glad you knew what the F I was talking about. Oddly, Transformers was one of my college roommates favorite movies (graduated in 2004). I'd forgotten who did all the voices but knew Orson Welles had a role. I cheated and double checked I had the name right... should have paid more attention to the other voice actors.

The top line heft is invisible in the playing position, though.  I honestly don't care what they look like in the bag, if the high gc means lower flight with higher more consistent spin, and shorter putts, I'm in.  Gonna order a pair without trying them.
