A few thoughts. Cameron Champ needs a new coach or just someone to work on his mental side and course management. Just snake bit out there which is not what you want to see in someone so young and talented. Bryson has become a sideshow. He use to have a game now it’s a long drive show. He has to make every putt or he’s out of it. I was impressed for the first few events but now he’s just overdoing it. He loves the attention he’s getting but his game is suffering. Would love to see DJ and Rory dueling tomorrow and get Niemann into the mix. Hoping over par wins.

My english fails me here, whats a burned edge? Narrowly missed putt?

Yeah.  A putt that catches the edge of the cup but not enought of it to drop through a combination of too much speed,  line, or both.  But at the same time not really what you'd call a lip out.

Least we  now know why Mcllroy been a bit inconsistent since  the restart lol

Might actually  free his mind up for the next major coming up.Fancy him winning one now this year

Congrats to Rory and family.?

Can we have more tournaments ,where breaking par is an achievement, been fantastic watch so far.

Rory has always been something of a nervous arabian racehorse while DJ is more like Djingis khans war stallion.  Goes into the stable for periods but when on a raid just make one top result after the other without making too much fuss about it. With Rory, you never know.

I don’t think it’s mental. Champ just doesn’t have a good game on or around the greens. I hope he can improve.

Agree on Bryson, I don’t think his current style will last.

Is it just me or are basically all threads super slow now?  What happened to the 30 page tournament threads?

I don't know what drove others away but I significantly slowed down my visits and posting in part due to; botched upgrade last year, Vanilla providing poor user experience for a long time, often heavy-handed moderating, and the loss/ban of a few funny members.

I'm liking what I see with the new software so far so hopefully that will help bring some folks back.

Should be a very interesting day of golf today,  can’t wait.  Winning score at even par?

Looks like it won't be too windy today, so I think it'll end up a few better than that.  Pretty good group of guys at +2.  Maybe one of them shoots 66 to post -2 and give the last couple of groups something to beat?

7300+ and par 70 is stout.  I don't know the course well and haven't looked as of yet but someone previous was lamenting the 350 yard drives due to the firm fairways.  Are the fairways mostly straight and the players benefiting from tons of roll-out or are they pulling the old cut the corner, over the trees, and drop it on a spot play?

Well they are cutting corners yes on several tee shots, but just look at the straight away drives on hole 1 and some have went 360-380! No cutting the corners there. The course is dry and getting quite a bit of roll on the flat ground. Very tight driving areas with rough 5 plus inches. I'm glad we didn't have to cut down the rough or it wouldn't be the test it is. However, the real reason for the high scores are the hard greens, they are very firm and not holding much. Also putting the greens in the back on several holes with run offs behind was a nice decision. I'm proud of how the course has held up and hope we can get another US Open in the future down the road.

As far as these forums slowing down I agree. A few years ago it was awesome with tons of posts and lots of passion. These days it’s almost a ghost town. There seems to be a resurgence in golf and hopefully changing the software helps. The issue is why change something that was successful. They kind of screwed themselves by doing that. Unfortunate

It's not the format....bad manners and large egos are the destruction of all golf forums.

This Euro golf in England is good!

Always make me want a nice full Irish breakfast (yes, I know Ireland is not England/UK) Like we got at this dope B&B in Claire.

Only I get poached egg and no eat the pudding.

But alas, I’m still on quest for 4-pack (I think a six pack is out of reach for this old man, lol) so I just have dumb yogurt and  ?.

But I can dream....

really looking forward to today's results.

Great to see a chicago course providing a stiff challenge to the pro's, and seeing who comes out on top.

Nice departure from pga tourneys at other chicago venues which were massive birdie fests

it will be interesting to see the master plan that Andy Staples comes up with as he works with the club membership.

Rasmus Hojgaard is a really talented kid.  Very smooth and cool in that playoff.  He and Sam Horsfield represent a new wave of Euro talent coming up.  Both awesome to watch.
