What winter urethane ball do you play?

I decide to stick to Bstone Tour BRX and Snell MTB Black.  I need spin around and on green.

I stick with ProV1 for the same reasons.  I have tried switching to a cheaper ball in the past, but just can't give up the greenside spin.

Same here and had issues with the E12s and the Qstars running out. Wilson Duo Pro is a great low compression urethane winter ball. Feels great off the club in less than ideal weather

I've never been able to figure out the idea behind switching balls in the winter, other than to try something out.  Cold, dense air is cold, dense air, no matter what golf ball I'm playing, and alternating golf balls every other hole keeps them from changing temperature enough to matter anyway.  If a particular ball is the right ball for me in July, I can't think of a reason in the world that it isn't the right ball for me in January.

In MN we don't get much "winter golf" (at least in my area), but in my "extended season" this month I have played the TM Tour Response.  I got a dozen for $20 on sale and had a couple of sleeves laying around.  They are a pretty good ball.  I feel like the "mid $30s" price range is no-mans land.  For just a bit more you get a tour ball, or for just a bit less you get DTC or "Dicks brand" good ball (Maxfli Tour).  All that said, I think this Tour Response is a fantastic ball if purchased on sale.  It won't kick TP5X or ProV1 out of my bag, but it is dang enjoyable to play in fall/spring rounds or scrambles when you are attempting a lot more "hero shots" you normally wouldn't try in a normal round.

Totally agree on the mid $30's pricing.  I think $25-$30 a dozen for a sub premium urethane ball is plenty to charge.  I'm talking per dozen, none of this you have to buy at least 2+ dozen to get them for under $30.

MTB-X for me.  They perform just as well as well as ProV1x for me minus green side spin and feel.  They feel a bit harder and seem to spin a bit less around the greens, but at 30 bucks or less a dozen when bought in bulk, can't be beat.

For me, the idea of a different ball in the off season is about two things: losing more balls and softer feels. Its happened on more than one occasion that I’ve hit drives that should be easily findable on the fairway or just barely off, and can’t be found. Either lost in leaves and low angle sunlight, or plugged deep enough you can’t see it. I also like a softer ball when it’s cold so it’s more pleasant on impact. 
 

All that being said, I’m still using my MTB-X because I have so many I can’t justify buying more balls just for winter rounds. Maybe when I get low I’ll try the Snell Get Sum next winter just to see how they are.

Same ball I play all year. The Q star tour. This ball does everything I need at a price I like.

I find a lot of golf balls as my home course is littered with hazards. During the off-season, where I can't post a score, I use a non-urethane golf ball.

Where did you find them for $20? I’m in at that price!

I’ll use the same b-rx I use the rest of the year or the proV1’s & other “premium” balls I’ve found over the last few months.

They were an add-on to my SP4 box last month.  I’ve gotten a few sleeves of them in recent boxes as well this fall.

Live in NJ. Once we get into leaf / winter season, I move to Snell Get-Sum. I am out to keep the swing in shape and enjoy the winter outside. The ball has good performance for the price. Don't care about losing one since you can get them 2 dozen for about $30 bucks. Once we get into late March / early April, I move back to Bridgestone B-RXS.

Used a Tour Response today. Only 2 degrees above freezing so the softer ball performed well.

got a couple dozen Z-Star XVs, some TP5's and a few AVX left...but won't play them very often.  I bought enough soft feels that those will be the primary winter ball.

Like my reply on another ball thread, cheaper lower spin distance balls will check decently on soft wet greens unless you play Augusta National or Pinehurst #2...

Once winter season starts, I start grabbing from my random collection of found balls. Handicap season is over and too many other variables in play to worry too much about ball performance consistency (frozen ground, snow piles, variably thawed greens, dormant grass). In this assortment are almost always some sort of top-tier or near top-tier urethane ball that are not my regular, go-to ball for the warm season. Just gives me a chance to play around with other brands, and save my stock of my regular ball for the main season.

 

I've also decided I don't like super soft compression balls, even when it's cold out.

Winter season at my home course is colder, wetter, but most importantly WINDY. I usually alternate Z Star XV in with my TP5 and Vice Pro gamers. The Z xv tends to hold its line better on the persistent 1-2 club wind days. 
 

I don’t feel like I have the same control on approach shots but when the wind is that strong you’re playing for the ball to release anyway.
