G410 LST vs G425 LST

The G425 is loud it has a "tink" sound that I did not like reminded me of the tink/clank of a Callaway driver. My G410 is staying in my bag.

I said it in another post, but I think the 425 LST is the perfect improvement on the 410 series for the tweener. Doesn't need all the spin killing of the 410 LST, but the 410+ sometimes spins too much. I loved it.

If the comparison is anything like any of the other YouTube comparisons, this year will be relatively similar with potentially very marginal improvements over 2 years ago. While Ping is better than most about not updating annually, there’s still only so much they can do within the limits of the game. If marginal improvements are worth $500+, then yes, it’s better.

Even if the 425 isn't any better than 410 it still is stable a heck compared to most drivers, still is plenty long, and looks betters than the 410. I could get the "not wanting to update" because why spend more money for similar results, but I think this driver is better than how it's being perceived so far on WRX.

The problem with the 425 is that it doesn't live up to previous performance improvements from Ping.

For example:

G400Max was a huge upgrade over everything from the previous cycle.

G410LST was a huge upgrade over the 400LST for high speed players

425 models look great and perform great but they are not significantly better than the G400Max or the G410LST for most players.

Great to hear. I've been hitting my 410+ so good I don't want to give it up, but I know I'm losing some yards to spin vs. my old G400 LST.  So if I can get close to the 410+ but lose a decent chunk of spin, I hope to get back those 5-10 yards I feel like are gone.

Going to 425 LST from 410 LST. Just sold the 410... 108 SS.

Here are some things to note, in no particular order:

- Ping drivers will never have the ‘best’ sound. IMO, if all else is equal, pick your driver based on this characteristic (BTW, 410 has a more dull sound)

- Dispersion was much tighter with the 425, like not even close. I attribute this to the way the weight track shifts CG (I have the weight in the heel on 425 and in the center on the 410). Heel position in the 410 shifted CG too far.
- I saw tighter standard deviation with the spin on 425. Again, this is likely a result of more consistent strike with the heel weight on the 425.
- Distance was a toss up. Higher averages with the 425 but better ball speed and carry numbers on the top end with the 410 for me but off-center strikes with the 410 were definitely more penalizing.

I did extensive testing with both the LST's. Same shaft, same day, alternating every 10 swings.

The 425 spun an average of 500 rpm less than the 410, which is a huge deal for me. I ordered the 425 but since then found a combination of Callaway Epic Speed and Ventus that is carrying 10 yards further than the Ping.

Agree with this, as I have the 400 max and the 410 LST. Testing against the 425 models with my shaft (AD IZ 6X) and I just didn't see enough in it to consider making any changes. Perhaps if I tried some different shafts in the 425 range they may have unlocked some extra. The 425 LST spun lower for me but not in a good way - gave me the odd snap hook super low spin, and I prefer the sound of the 410 LST. I do think it can be longer, but for me at the cost of consistency that I get from the 410 LST. And as for the G400 Max - well it is the G400 Max...enough said.

Put the 425 max and LST head to head with my 400 LST on Trackman. Same shaft in all three, adjusted the 425 in every which way including 9* and 10.5* heads. My 400 LST still shat on the 425 in ball speed, overall distance, and dispersion. Sim2 was the only thing close, and it was still averaging 4mph slower than my 400. My club builder basically said to play my 400 until it pops, then I’ll have to go to SIM 😣

the g400 lst 8.5 is a legend. Period.

The 425 Max is just what you are looking for. More forgiveness than the 410+ with less spin. I made the switch already.

To get these numbers on the 410+, I had to put in a lighter back weight and a lower launching, lower spinning shaft.

Took a 425 LST 10 degree demo with Tensei 65 Orange out yesterday at my home course.  Did not get along with it.  Looked great and sounded very polite -not tinny or obnoxious but nothing special distance wise.  I was pretty inconsistent with it.  Would love to try again with X Flex to see if results were better.

I'm with you. Cracked my last 400LST maybe about a month ago and the boatloads of 410s I've been testing/using don't even come close. On the 400, almost every head I ever hit felt good. Fingers crossed the 425 is more like the 400 and not even further away, haven't been able to test in correct lofts yet but at least the sound/feel was promising...

Agreed. The 400LST was a bit of a sleeper. Get it set up for yourself and it's fantastic.

I had an apples to apples this week on GC Quad. If you have a well fit 410LST there’s literally no reason to upgrade unless you like the new colors. I personally don’t get the “unicorn” hype on the Max. Maybe it’s due to my SS but it’s borderline unplayable spin numbers for me.

This was my current 410 LST set up. You can see it’s BARELY in the manageable spin window, but I just love how playable it’s been for me this year so hard to argue too much. That said it’s not lasting through this year. SIM and SIM2 have shown to be better at managing spin for me. I saw no improvement with the 425 LST, and the Max wasn’t usable. B7CE8293-3519-4102-AD9E-07BB6919288B.jpeg.e45f0a40f57feddbe88d5cff6d6b2c6d.jpeg

The ability to flatten the lie and drop the loft, removed one side of the course completely for me with the 410 LST. That was  a game changer for me on certain courses. I also loved the G400 LST

When the 425 first showed up for fittings, I took my 410+ in (had a velocore shaft in it) and compared my 410 with the 415 (both max and lst).  Local retailer here that has the Foresight launch monitor.  I used a ProV for every shot.  I hit about 15 to 20 balls with each club, swapping my shaft out for each head - all heads were 9*.   My club has some hotmelt to help with the sound and SW was D4.5.  I did not change the weights in the 425 - well, I moved them from neutral to draw, but did not change the amount of weight.

Long story short, there was no consistent difference in those 3 heads.  They all launched within 1 degree, carried within 5 yards, spun within 350 revs.  Sure, I hit one with each club that was phenomenal, but after all the shots were taken into consideration, they were all a wash.  The Max head was the loudest, then the LST, then mine.  If I were to buy one, I'd take the 425 LST and throw some hotmelt in it.

I'd really like to buy a new driver but just can't justify spending $500+ when there just isn't a measurable difference for me.

I was able to hit G425 lst at PGA SS and loved the look. Sound/feel was just ok. Their monitor was showing my spin on a couple shots I hit well was around 1400. Was using the Ping Tour shaft and found that number hard to believe. Certainly wouldn’t want to purchase if that really is spin.

Last month I took my 400 LST to a Golf Galaxy to hit the 410 LST being as there was a slight price drop because the 425 had just come out. I did not hit the 410 LST any further than my 400 LST. I did try the 425 LST just to see how it will work although I knew I would not be willing to pay that full price of the 425 but I did immediately pick up ten yards with the 425 I'd love to have the 425 but I'm not going to pay all that extra money just to pick up ten yards on a drive now and then

I picked up the g425max with tensei 65s. My first impressions are that the club seems more forgiving than my 410lst. Specifically on distance dispersion. My poor strikes still got down the fairway well enough to allow me a shot at the green. That’s all I ask. I wasn’t looking for the longest driver. I wanted a driver long enough, but not it in trees.
