I can understand your point now. Thanks for posting the pics. Are the soles wider than the i59? I cant tell.

The soles of the 223's have a grind/beveled edge towards the cavity. So the actual sole is slightly wider closer to the hosel and slightly narrower towards the toe vs. the i59's. Due to the beveled edge towards the cavity, there are some shots out there that make the sole look massive but it actually isn't.

All I can say is THANK YOU for posting pics and providing your experience on these amazing looking irons!  I am so jealous that you already have them… Just based on your review, I’m 99% likely to order these.  I just hope Mizuno will be able to fulfill orders by then without the long wait

Or if you’re looking to sell… 😆

Based on your account, seems like 223 beats i59 on distance and forgiveness (which are two main things I look for in my game these days).  Would you say then that i59 is better in shot shaping?

I’m not good enough to shot shape to a degree where I would notice the influence of an iron to be honest with you. I never had an issue hitting a fade or draw with an Apex’19 either.

perhaps the offset plays a role for some - I believe the i59s have slightly less offset

@m_wYour photos are awesome and your explanations are clear. Thank you so much for the time and effort you've put into this.

I'm curious if your impression of the sound of the strike has changed much from your initial takes on a mat and after playing the clubs on turf. Are you still as impressed with the sound as you were initially?

Ugh Club Champion in Rochester never returned my fitting email last year.  Have you heard anything about Prestwick Golf?

YouTuber Matt Fryer was there the same day. It’s his. You’d have thought they’d move it out of shot for an official video eh?

Hasn't changed. My setup at home is outside so I don't have the typical indoor/outdoor difference.

Thanks just saw. Is the 223 standard lofts for that much distance gain?

I believe it's a 32* 7 iron

Are you familiar with srixon? I play the 785. Wondering if they would be a huge jump or lateral?
I’m also trying to understand why mizuno would make them the same size as the 921 tour?

Very different sole design. I think the 785s are a slightly bigger club. I’ve only ever played the ZX7 thou.

I think the 223s are going to offer more forgiveness and spin more. Length should be pretty close.

Not sure if you had issues with Mizunos digging in the past but did you find these dug less?

i never had an issue with digging. I think the only thing I noticed in the past was how they wouldn’t exit as cleanly as I.e the T100. With the new beveled edge, I think it’s gotten better. I very much like the turf interaction of the 223s. But remember I’m only 27 holes in. I’ll make sure to provide an update if impressions change significantly once I’ve played more

I need more spin and better turf interaction. I’m a sweeper. Pretty shallow. I can’t imagine them being more forgiving then the srixon? These are the ones i wanted to work the most. It isn’t a huge jump from the srixon though?

😲 If this is accurate then Mizuno has a BIG winner on their hands. In my brief testing of ZX7's spin was a little lower than preferred, though playable. Add in possibly more forgiveness then I'm sold.
