Patty, please, don't take practice swings right behind your ball. If you hit it a little fat and your flying divot moves the ball, you'll accept a one-stroke penalty.

I agree with the commentator. The way she had Lydia nipping at her heels, trying to chase her down, and to be able to fend that off, that's a special kind of mentality.

Most of the attention was on Lydia today, rightfully so, but we can't overlook Patty's performance this week. Four rounds in the 60? Wire to wire? One shot off the major scoring record? 300+ yds off the tee? Remarkable performance. Edit: I'll add two bogie free rounds, and only four bogies for the week. Crazy. 

 

I have a feeling she won't be a one and done winner. Solid all around game. Impressed.

This could have been a real snoozer today, but it turned out to be a real gem. I really enjoyed the ANWA yesterday, but this blew it out of the water, or should I say Popie's Pond. 

 

Definitely something to be said for a major that's played on the same course for 50 years. Yeah, it can be a little tricked up at times. (I expect the grandstands to be up behind 18 next year), but it's a solid test of golf. The greens are tricky. The rough is no joke. Even in benign conditions only 49 players broke par.

It's going to be lost in the craziness, but great rounds by Sei Young and Nelly today. They weren't in the conversation all week, but a pair of T3s is impressive.

A lot of hype has been focused on Anne and Maria, but Yuka, Bianca, and Patty seem to have much better all around games for the long hitters. 

 

That said, let's not forget that Lexi has been near the top of the world rankings for years. For all the attention on her putting woes, she's still one of the best long hitters.

she's got a fast turn through impact, just has that very languid finish tempo to make it look so easy. nearing 160 ball speed is pretty nutty speed considering her height and backswing length.
