Best club ever?!?

 

SM4 Black Saw 56 degree, 10 bounce. 
 

I bought it from a rack at a real nice course.  No other reason than, “it was great looking”. 
 

Best wedge I’ve had and everything I test…. Is against that wedge. 
 

 

Stolen, while we were having some beers. 
 

I don’t leave my clubs in the bag rack anymore.  
 

Sounds like country song minus the truck and a dog.

I had a TaylorMade RAC 54* wedge about 20 years ago that was absolute money. Then again I have a 70s Hogan Forty Seven 58* SW that still finds it's way into my bag. It's great out of the sand but the sole is pretty worn. Has a nice looking sweet spot too but it will still spin it.

Well, for me Eye 2 +.   But that was then…now have that back in the bag and a Cleveland 588, both work for different shots, but usually I pick the wrong one…..

Without a doubt my current Miuras. Played in the past Vokeys (genuinely solid clubs, they have their rep for a reason). Clevelands were a favorite for a while. Years ago Hogans (when they were still Hogans). 

 

But I gotta say, these Miuras are the best wedges I've ever gamed. Only stumbled across them a couple years ago (a buddy was playing them, let me try them, was instantly hooked). Not sure what it is. The weight, the incredibly subtle nuances of the grind. Something about them fits my game perfectly. Yeah, a bit expensive, but so what. I'll be using them for years. Any lie, from the tightest fairway to the fluffiest rough. Any sand, from powdery to coarse and wet. Minor adjustments to grip, stance and swing and you can do almost anything with these jewels. 

 

Even the aesthetics are great They are forged, and soft, but feel slightly firmer than my Mizzy irons - however somehow I like that. And when I got them they were pleasingly black, but with wear they are sort of gently developing this beautiful patina. I'm in love with these clubs. It is unfortunately nearly impossible to find them stocked retail in a US big box, so I suspect few people get to try them. But if you get a chance to do so - these are something serious to look at if the discussion is "the best wedges you've ever played".

Aren’t all these “blade” looking wedges similar if not the same? Apart from bounce, sole etc?   
Why does no one talk about the SHAFT? 
Surely that makes a difference?

Don't have any pictures but the Nike Engages were easily the best wedged I had ever played. You could do anything with those wedges. Good out of any lie and came in a raw finish. So good!

Some days I'll play some Nike VR something or other with xex grooves... they're nice but I like the Clevelands more.

I haven’t read through this whole forum but I’d be willing to say the wedge I’m going to throw out there hasn’t been mentioned yet: Taylormade Xft 58/09 wedge. I don’t know what it is about it, but I trust it and it works for me from all sorts of lies. And I have plenty of replacement faces for it so I’m very used to the grind and how it plays. I will admit that I have tried to replace it a handful of times over the past decade, but I always go back to it. I still question it to this day, but it doesn’t keep me from playing it!

Two wedge models come to mind whenever I think of the "best" wedges I have ever had/used:

 

1) Nike Forged Wedges (same model as the 2002 forged blades) - these were such a good feeling wedge, I was able to control my ball very well with them and loved the feel

 

2) Ping Glide 4.0 (Eye2 model) 54/58 - my current gamers, these wedges do things to the ball that I can't even understand and I love it. They feel great, perform well and do exactly what I want them to on all kinds of shots (chips, bump and runs, half swing, full swings, etc)

I’m still gaming my Miura forged Cleveland 588s.  Rechromed w/125gram Accra graphite shafts now and as by far my favorite wedges

What a brilliant design prior to this sand or special wedges always had the bounce way in the back of the sole and very little roll and camber. Ping has always been very innovative and has changed far more designs than just the Anser.
