Tim Tebow Signing With the Jags… To play TE!

I know how much you guys all love the NFL, NBA and MLB (😂) So I figured I’d post this. Will be fun to see how he does moving to a position in the NFL that he didn’t even play a single snap at in either HS or college! Will be reunited with Urban Meyer. His coach at Florida.

33 y/o white guy who hasn’t played football in years gets a contract to play a position he’s never played…ever.  What could go wrong? 🤷‍♂️

Well in this case “white guy” might be to his benefit. Have you checked out the top tight ends in the NFL lately?! Lol

I believe your thinking of Johnny Manziel! 😂

Honestly at this point it seems like Tebow is just as desperate for attention as Manziel is.

I mean I guess it makes sense in his head.... "I failed as an NFL quarterback, then I failed as an MLB outfielder, so I'll definitely succeed as an NFL tight end!"

Yeah I get it. I was just kinda kidding around. Manziel is a train wreck on another level for sure.

Don’t know what to expect.  He could fail to make the roster, get injured, or be successful in third down two tight end situations.

Truthfully, I don't think he will be able to keep up with the speed of the NFL at his age and lack of recent experience.

I always thought there was a place for him in the league with his skills years ago.  Surprised no one could ever take advantage of his talent.

$100 says Kaepernick makes a story of himself about it...

Even you have to admit it is a little perplexing how someone like Tebow can continue to pretend to be a “professional athlete” in not one, but 2 sports, while a “modern quarterback” who took his team to the Super Bowl can’t even get a sniff in the league as a backup.

I think quarterbacks, especially ones with off the field issues, have a much harder time finding work. Everyone knows Tebow is a class act and is worth a shot while Kap brings a circus if you give him a shot. How could you even cut Kap if you gave him the shot? Tebow is an expected longshot, but you are labeled if you ever cut Kap. I wouldn't say Kap led his team to a super bowl, he was a capable fill in for an injury, but then imploded the next season when given a shot at being a starter. Some of the lowest stats in the league yet still demanded the he be given a starter role. I think that was 100% his issue is that everyone knows he was offered by multiple teams, yet he turned them down due to not being promised a starter role. The story has changed over the years that he will take any shot, but even John Elway has spoken out about it. As the years go by, he becomes less and less relevant. Too many good young quarterbacks to give a shot over a known problem. That isn't how pro football works. I played it at a lower level and can tell you 99.9999% of the time, your attitude can get you cut as much as your ability.

Tebow may be a class act, but at 33 with no experience at the position they're letting him TRY to play…does he really DESERVE it?  It he really worth a shot?  He’s just a pretender getting paid to satisfy the home town crowd.  And that’s fine, as the league is a business, but don’t think for a second he worth anything from a football perspective.

I also think he has zero shot at making it. An average football career is just under 3 years statistically, but having him in camp to mentor many of the guys that need it never hurts. Plus, it likely costs you next to nothing having him there. He is a competitor, but his football days are long gone. I'd say he uses this to transition to coaching.

I live in the SF Bay Area and watched all Colin’s games (not a 9er fan though) Colin was a freak athlete, but his big problem was that he had issues making the right reads. As another poster here eluded to, once exposed, his performance fell of the proverbial cliff.

I'm thrilled for Tebow. I hope he does well. I don't expect anything from him though. Its great PR and way to sell tickets. That's about it.

Long time 49er fan, and Kap fell off the wagon hard. He won 3 total in his last 2 seasons. He was a freak athlete but below average QB. Hard to stick around loosing like that even though management at the time was the biggest bunch of scumbags in the league at the time.

If a protein signs him and pays him money then he is a professional athlete.

He’s a professional show pony.  They’re paying for his presence to drum up media interest.  He hasn’t been a serious athlete for some time now.

I understand. There are many different reasons why people get paid to play professional sports. Regardless, they are still professional athletes by definition.

You realize Colin was 3-16 his last 2 years in San Francisco, right? And Tebow was signed by his college coach, and his hometown team ... a team that has absolutely zero depth or talent at tight end.
